Statement on minimum wage from Deputy Minister of Labor and Social Security Ahmet Aydın

Aydın made the following statement:

"Our Minimum Wage Determination Commission has begun its work and held its first meeting. It will hold its second meeting as of next Monday.

Within this month, by the end of this month, it will reach a consensus on the minimum wage issue. We wish and hope that a minimum wage will emerge with the consensus of the parties," he said.

Deputy Minister of Labor and Social Security Ahmet Aydın attended a 'meeting with businessmen and sector representatives' organized by the Adıyaman Chamber of Commerce and Industry. Here, he listened to the questions of the business world and answered them. After the meeting, Deputy Minister Ahmet Aydın visited the Adıyaman Municipality Barrier-Free Life Center and chatted with disabled children and their families.

Ahmet Aydın, who inspected the permanent earthquake housing under construction in the Örenli neighborhood of central Adıyaman, answered journalists' questions there.

"WE HAVE INCREASED THE MINIMUM WAGE 3-FOLD"

Speaking about the minimum wage, Ahmet Aydın said, "Our Minimum Wage Determination Commission has begun its work and held its first meeting. It will hold its second meeting as of next Monday. Under the leadership of our President, our government has tried not to let our citizens be crushed by inflation, despite all global and regional crises and all economic processes.

All our efforts have been for this. In this sense, we have increased the minimum wage, which was 184 TL in 2002, to 11 thousand 402 TL as of today.

In fact, when we look at it in real terms, we have increased the minimum wage exactly three-fold. Hopefully, our wish is for a minimum wage that will not be crushed by inflation, with the consensus of the parties. Serious work is ongoing at this point,” he said.

Regarding minimum wage support, Aydın said, “We have also been providing minimum wage support since 2016. We provide 500 TL of minimum wage support per employee.

To date, we have provided approximately 25 billion Lira in minimum wage support to 1.7 million workplaces. Again, we have introduced a tax exemption for all wages up to the minimum wage tariff.

Regarding all employees. This is also a significant tax exemption. We have introduced an exemption on taxes up to the minimum wage portion in order to keep our employees comfortable in this regard,” he said.
