Palestine Red Crescent: Hind Rajab and rescue team have lost their lives

In Gaza, 6-year-old Hind Rajab, who left her home on January 29 with her uncle, aunt, and 5 cousins to escape bombardment, and the two ambulance workers who were sent to rescue her after the Palestine Red Crescent reached her via her uncle's mobile phone, had been missing for 12 days.

The bodies of six-year-old Hind and the two paramedics who sought to rescue her, Yusuf Zeino and Ahmed Al-Madhoun, were recovered today.

'REST IN PEACE'

The Palestine Red Crescent had announced earlier that the bodies of the workers had been found, but in a later statement, they said, "After pleading with our teams for hours in a voice filled with terror and desperation, saying 'Come and get me,' Hind tragically lost her life alone. Rest in peace, Hind, and humanitarian heroes Yusuf and Ahmed."

WHAT HAPPENED?

In a written statement released on social media, the Palestine Red Crescent had stated that there had been no news for 12 days regarding 6-year-old Hind Rajab and the Red Crescent team that set out to rescue her.

The statement had called on the international community to "pressure Israel to reveal the status of the 6-year-old girl and the Palestine Red Crescent team."

The Palestine Red Crescent had shared an audio recording of 15-year-old Layan Hamadeh, who had called them for help on January 29 after the vehicle her family was in was targeted by Israeli forces in the Gaza Strip, reporting that she had been attacked.

It was reported that before she was killed, 15-year-old Palestinian Layan had said, "Uncle, they are firing at us, there is a tank next to us, we are trapped in the vehicle."

It was stated that Layan lost her life following the phone call, and that 6-year-old Hind Rajab remained trapped in the vehicle.

The statement noted that Israeli forces did not grant permission to the ambulance and medical team that went to rescue Hind.
