Ahmet Davutoğlu lashes out at both the opposition and the government: Neither exploitation of Gaza nor exploitation of the Republic

Speaking at the Saadet Party's TBMM Group Meeting, Future Party Chairman Ahmet Davutoğlu made important statements regarding the Gaza-Hamas conflicts and the current agenda.

100TH ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATIONS TARGETED

Emphasizing that one of the greatest massacres in human history is taking place in Gaza, Davutoğlu reminded that the Jabalia Refugee Camp was also bombed yesterday. Davutoğlu said, "More than 100 of our brothers and sisters were martyred. Do you know what is as sad as this? Unfortunately, last week we saw a very bad example of social polarization regarding both the Gaza issue and the 100th-anniversary celebrations of the Republic."

LASHED OUT AT BOTH THE OPPOSITION AND THE GOVERNMENT

Referring to the Great Palestine Rally held in Istanbul on October 28, Davutoğlu said that no one other than the People's Alliance (Cumhur İttifakı) was invited to the rally. Davutoğlu used the expression, "As if the Palestinian cause was their monopoly. As if it wasn't them who were silent for 18 days, but us. As if they didn't have the executive power in their hands and were just complaining."

Explaining that on October 28, Gaza was on one side and Republic celebrations were on the other, Davutoğlu noted that the opposition made comments that equated Hamas with Israel, and the occupiers with those under occupation.

Stating that those who say "both are terrorist organizations" do not know the Middle East or the law, Davutoğlu assessed, "They also took the Republic into their monopoly and positioned themselves on the Republic side of the polarization, as if the Republic and Gaza were mutually exclusive things."

''NEITHER EXPLOITATION OF GAZA NOR EXPLOITATION OF THE REPUBLIC''

Noting that they wanted to hold a flag march in Bakırköy last week, that the district governor's office first gave permission, then the Bakırköy Municipality said, "This area belongs to us, we will use it," and the Governorship canceled the permit two days before the march, Davutoğlu shared his view: "Let no one monopolize our honor or our grief. We are the defenders of every drop of blood shed and every tear shed in Gaza, and we are the owners of the armies of independence and our Republic. Neither exploitation of Gaza nor exploitation of the Republic."

"THE TIME TO GO TO GAZA IS TODAY"

Stating that he sent letters to Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, and Russian President Vladimir Putin expressing what should be done regarding Palestine, Davutoğlu reported that the Saadet-Gelecek group formed a delegation to go to Gaza, but that no response has been received from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs or Egypt yet.

Davutoğlu called out to the Speaker of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM), saying, "Immediately implement the decision you have made. If a delegation from the TBMM Human Rights Commission is to go to Gaza, the time to go is today."

DEMAND FOR NO-FLY ZONE

Claiming that no sanctions have been imposed on Israel by Turkey, Davutoğlu said, "Let no one put on a show, let no one engage in demagoguery. I thank the more than 1 million citizens who gathered there. But if the government is the one organizing it, what we expect from the government is to say 'we will implement these sanctions.' Cut off the oil going to Israel and everything providing logistics, and close the airspace to Israel. Impose a flight ban on aircraft."

Recalling that more than 100 ships passed through the Bosphorus on Republic Day, Davutoğlu stated that they were proud of the naval ships passing through the Strait.

Davutoğlu assessed, "When the navy was passing, Erdoğan should have been at either Topkapı Palace or Dolmabahçe Palace, and should have saluted from there. Because both are places that have been the center of both the Ottoman Empire and the Republic. But the ships of all seven powers are in the Eastern Mediterranean, and our navy is in the Bosphorus. If you are going to show strength, you line up that navy from the shores of İskenderun to the shores of Cyprus and say, 'Everything that passes through here is my responsibility.' That is what showing strength is."
