Future Party Deputy Chairman Selçuk Özdağ has responded to allegations that the Future Party will join the AKP.
Speaking to 12punto regarding the claims that they would join the AKP, Ankara MP Nedim Yamalı had said, "We are also in search of what we can do until the next election. We have roots in the AK Party. Therefore, we are in talks. One should not immediately conclude from this that 'they are switching, they will switch.' There are friends there with whom we have worked for years who say, 'Return to the AK Party, come back.'"
Yamalı later added, "If we are going to switch to the AK Party, we will do so together with our Chairman Ahmet Davutoğlu."
DAVUTOĞLU WILL MAKE A STATEMENT TOMORROW
Clarifying Yamalı's statements, Özdağ spoke to ANKA.
Stating, "We are where we are, and we continue to provide opposition. We are facing a serious operation," Özdağ said, "News is coming out that 5 people are going to the AK Party. My name even appeared in the latest reports, but no one called to ask me." Denying the allegations by saying, "There is no such thing," Özdağ added, "We formed a group and became a very successful opposition. Our Chairman Ahmet Davutoğlu will meet with IYI Party Chairman Mr. Müsavat Dervişoğlu tomorrow. Dervişoğlu will pay a return visit to our headquarters. After the meeting, our Chairman will hold a press conference and will also make statements regarding the allegations that have emerged."
