Future Party Board Member and Ankara Deputy Mustafa Nedim Yamalı, who is alleged to be joining the AKP, made headlines with his remarks: “Ahmet Davutoğlu is aware of all the meetings held within the party. If we are to join the AKP, we will do so all together with our chairman Ahmet Davutoğlu.”

RESPONSE TO YAMALI FROM SELÇUK ÖZDAĞ

Future Party Group Chairman Selçuk Özdağ responded to Yamalı, saying: “Nedim's statements are his own opinion. We are meeting with every party; it is not possible to govern Turkey without meeting with parties. There is no such participation for now. But some AKP members come and meet with us. As Selçuk Özdağ, I am where I am.”

"WE ARE TRYING TO DRAW A ROADMAP"

Yamalı clarified his remarks: “If we are to join the AKP, we will do so all together with our chairman Ahmet Davutoğlu.”

According to a report by Cumhuriyet, Yamalı stated that every party is trying to draw a roadmap and form new alliances following the elections, adding: “We are also talking to our friends in the AKP. Of course, there are offers from deputies of all political parties saying, ‘Come, you are welcome.’ We have many meetings in Parliament. We are talking not only with AKP deputies but also with our friends from DEVA, the Felicity Party (Saadet Partisi), the IYI Party, and the CHP, and we are trying to draw a roadmap.”

‘TURKEY IS A FAIR OF PARTIES’

When asked, “Will there be transitions from the Future Party to the AKP?”, Yamalı replied:

“We are continuing our own work. Before joining the table of six, we were not a very large party, but we had still reached around 2.5-3 percent. After the table of six, we were almost wiped out. We have two types of ideas for a way out of this. The first is to consolidate the party. We are trying to consolidate our party. We are talking to everyone, especially about ‘how we can gather the division in the conservative community and how we can overcome this fragmentation.’”

‘WE WILL MAKE SACRIFICES’

When asked, “Can this be called a green light for a transition?”, Yamalı responded: “I am a person who took part in the founding of the AKP. When we meet with our friends in the AKP, we say this: ‘For the first time, you have become the second party, and this second-party position is starting to become permanent. You also need a consolidation.’ I think there is a transfer situation in the AKP due to August 14; perhaps they are putting us there as a package. Our meetings are sincere. There is no such thing as sitting at a table with the AKP on one side and the Future Party on the other. We do not hold meetings without our chairman's knowledge.”

Stating, “We will take every step and make every sacrifice to gather the fragmentation in the conservative community,” Yamalı also responded to the question, “Even if you had to join the AKP?” as follows:

“Certainly... (referring to the Saadet-Future Party Group in the Grand National Assembly of Turkey) We previously gave up our own name and gave our name to the Felicity Party. Although the Felicity Party may seem close to us in some respects, we have differences in methods. When there is a sincere will for consolidation, we will make any sacrifice without hesitation.”
