The Spanish star, who is the second player with the most Grand Slam titles at 22, announced that he has ended his career in a video he released.

DOMINANCE AT ROLAND GARROS

Nadal, who left the court victorious in 22 of the 30 Grand Slam finals of his career, managed to win all 14 finals he played at the French Open.

Nadal, who defeated Mariano Puerta in his first Roland Garros final in 2005 at the age of 19, went on to beat Roger Federer in 2006, 2007, 2008, and 2011; Robin Söderling in 2010; Novak Djokovic in 2012, 2014, and 2020; David Ferrer in 2013; Stanislas Wawrinka in 2017; Dominic Thiem in 2018 and 2019; and Casper Ruud in 2022.

The Spanish star won 112 of the 115 matches he played at the French Open.

Nadal suffered his first defeat in the tournament in the 4th round in 2009 against the Swede Söderling, his second in the quarterfinals in 2015 against Djokovic, and his third in the semifinals in 2021, again against Djokovic.

Nadal, who suffers from a foot condition called Müller-Weiss syndrome and explained that he was able to take the court throughout the 2022 Roland Garros thanks to injections into the nerves in his left foot, has defied the years.

Starting a season by winning the first two Grand Slam tournaments of the year (Australian Open, French Open) for the first time in his career at age 36, Nadal increased the number of major tournaments he won after turning 30 to 8.
