In men's singles, Italian No. 2 seed Jannik Sinner secured his ticket to the second round by defeating American Christopher Eubanks 3-0 with sets of 6-3, 6-3, and 6-4.

No. 4 seed German Alexander Zverev faced 38-year-old Spaniard Rafael Nadal, a 14-time winner of the tournament, in the first round.

Zverev defeated Nadal 3-0 (6-3, 7-6, 6-3) in a match that lasted a total of 3 hours and 5 minutes, advancing to the second round.

While the Spanish racket bid farewell to the French Open in the first round for the first time, Zverev became the third person to succeed in defeating Nadal in this tournament, following Robin Söderling and Novak Djokovic.

No. 9 seed Greek Stefanos Tsitsipas also passed Hungarian Marton Fucsovics in the first round with sets of 7-6, 6-4, and 6-1.
