Decision from Rafael Nadal that will sadden his fans
Spanish tennis player Rafael Nadal has announced his withdrawal from the US Open, the final Grand Slam tournament of the season.
While Rafael Nadal, who was defeated by Novak Djokovic in the singles at Paris 2024, has been in the spotlight due to rumors that he might retire from tennis, he has surprised everyone with his new decision.
Nadal announced that he has withdrawn from the US Open, a tournament he has only played in once since 2019. Stating that he will participate in the Laver Cup in September, Nadal apologized to his fans in the US.
In a post on his official X account, Nadal stated, "Hi everyone, I am writing to let you know that I have decided not to compete at this year's US Open. This is a place where I have amazing memories."
Nadal continued his post with the following statements:
"I will miss those electric and special night sessions at Ashe in NYC, but I don't think I could give my 100% this time. Thanks to all my US fans in particular, I will miss you all and see you next time. Best of luck to the always great US Open! My next event will be the Laver Cup in Berlin."
