France proposes EU sanctions on Russian firms over 'disinformation' accusations

France has announced it will propose that the EU impose sanctions on Russian firms it accuses of spreading disinformation. The EU has implemented 13 packages of sanctions against Russia to date.

French Foreign Minister Stéphane Sejourne has announced that they will submit a proposal to the EU administration for the European Union to impose sanctions on Russian firms that spread disinformation.

Speaking at a press conference in Paris with US Secretary of State Antony Blinken, Sejourne said, "I will propose a sanctions decision against those who support the disinformation regime."

The EU has implemented 13 packages of sanctions against Russia to date.

Sanctions against Russia cover a wide range of sectors, including trade, finance, industry, technology, transportation, dual-use goods, and luxury products.
