BMW Group recorded a decline in global vehicle deliveries in the third quarter of 2026. The company's total deliveries for the July-September period decreased by 6.3 percent compared to the same period last year, reaching 551,072 units.
The weakening of the Chinese market played a decisive role in the decline in sales. The pressure on the market due to the end of electric vehicle incentives and the economic slowdown was also reflected in BMW's deliveries in China. The company's third-quarter deliveries in China fell by 24.8 percent year-on-year to 114,355.
Despite the sharp decline in China, a more positive picture emerged in the US and European markets. BMW Group increased its third-quarter sales in the US by 2.5 percent to 106,741 vehicles. The company's deliveries to the US since the beginning of the year have reached over 373,000.
Local production capacity is among the factors supporting BMW's position in the US. The group produces large SUV models such as the X3, X5, and X7 at its Spartanburg plant in South Carolina. This production structure contributes to these models being less affected by high customs duties.
ELECTRIC VEHICLE DEMAND SUPPORTED SALES IN EUROPE
In Europe, demand for fully electric models in particular supported BMW's sales performance. The company's total deliveries across Europe increased by 2.7 percent year-on-year in the third quarter to 235,628.
Fully electric vehicle deliveries reached 81,941 units in the same period, an increase of 37.5 percent. Thus, one in every three BMW vehicles delivered in Europe consisted of fully electric models. The group's worldwide fully electric vehicle deliveries were recorded at 110,257.
Declines were also seen in other brands within the group. Mini's sales fell by 2.4 percent in the third quarter to 70,712. Sales of Rolls-Royce, which is in the ultra-luxury segment, fell by 18 percent to 1,069 units, partly due to the pressure of geopolitical tensions in the Middle East on luxury consumption.
A similar decline was experienced on the BMW Motorrad side. The motorcycle department's third-quarter sales fell by 12.5 percent year-on-year to 46,605.
BMW Group's total vehicle deliveries in the first nine months of 2026 also decreased by 4.9 percent compared to the same period last year, amounting to 1,707,799.
Despite challenging global market conditions, we have managed to maintain our position well in Europe and the US. In particular, the continued strong order intake for fully electric vehicles proves the accuracy of the strategy we are implementing.
