Our Manifesto

12punto is an independent digital publishing platform that embraces objective and principled journalism based on the universal principles of journalism.

12punto is committed to the fundamental values of the Republic: democracy, secularism, and the rule of law.

12punto aims to reach the level of contemporary civilization pointed out by Mustafa Kemal Ataturk, the architect of our Republic.

12punto defends freedom of the press and expression, the public's right to information, pluralism, human rights, and peace.

12punto does not accept discrimination based on race, religion, sect, gender, orientation, age, disability, or any other difference.

12punto aims to prevent violence against women, children, and animals, and to protect the climate and nature.

12punto defends the rights of victims, the powerless, the poor, the marginalized, and the oppressed; it becomes the voice of the unheard and of all people against injustice.

12punto is based on science, reason, and logic, and fights against religious orders and communities that try to deceive society with superstition.

12punto sees the lifting of press censorship with the proclamation of the Second Constitutional Era in 1908 as a turning point; it fights against censorship and self-censorship.

12punto has made it its mission to tear down walls of fear and open doors to brighter tomorrows in these dark days when journalism is held captive and the truth is veiled.

12punto follows a journalism approach that serves only and exclusively the truth.

In the foundation of 12punto lies the spirit of those who would not let their dignity be trampled, and the courage and determination of those who put their hands under the stone for the country.

Our Principles

We practice journalism, share information and ideas that concern the public; we convey the truth.

Our greatest priority in our news is objectivity and public interest.

We are open to all criticism and self-criticism, provided it is not destructive, hurtful, or insulting.

Our reporters, editors, and writers who share different ideas reflect our diversity.

We do not practice journalism that serves personal interests, political parties, clubs, or companies.

With the support of our readers, we constantly question and renew ourselves.

We publish news without distortion or manipulation.

We use headlines that do not mislead the reader and accurately reflect the content.

In lawsuits and investigations, we convey accusations and defenses in a balanced manner.

When quoting from other sources, we always cite the source and respect the labor behind it.

We respect the right of reply and correction.

We do not engage in hidden advertising and do not use our journalism for corporate interests.

We do not accept gifts from any person or institution and avoid conflicts of interest.

We do not participate in invited trips paid for by companies or institutions.

We respect people's private lives and do not violate their intimate spaces.

We never betray the labor of those who create value and the prestige of our writers.

We always consider it our duty to protect the honor of the journalism profession.

The "Rules of proper conduct for journalists" in the Turkish Journalists' Declaration of Rights and Responsibilities is our compass.
