Eviction order for Istanbul Park, home of F1 races

An eviction order has been issued for the Istanbul Park Circuit, located in the Tuzla district of Istanbul in the Akfırat area, which was built in 2003 and hosted its first Formula 1 races in 2005.

According to the report in Sözcü, the General Directorate of Foundations had signed a 20-year lease agreement on July 18, 2003, with Formula İstanbul Yatırım A.Ş. (FİYAŞ), whose major shareholders include TOBB and the Istanbul Chamber of Commerce (İTO).

After the Formula 1 Turkish Grand Prix was removed from the 2012 race calendar, FİYAŞ, the operator of Istanbul Park, put the track up for lease for 10 years. The operation of the Istanbul Park Circuit was being carried out by the company Intercity.
