Investment move to Turkey from Chinese automotive brands
The European Union's implementation of customs duties on electric vehicles imported from China has directed Chinese manufacturers toward Turkey.
Albert Saydam, Chairman of the Board of the Automotive Suppliers Association of Turkey (TAYSAD), has announced the desire of Chinese automotive brands to engage in production in Turkey. With this statement, Saydam sparked curiosity among consumers by referring to specific brands.
The transformation toward electric vehicles in the automotive sector has led to the prominence of Chinese brands, particularly those like BYD. BYD is drawing attention by breaking sales records not only in the Chinese market but also in the European market. In a meeting with members of the press, TAYSAD Chairman Albert Saydam emphasized Chinese brands and expressed the desire of some firms to conduct production in Turkey. According to Saydam, brands with plans to establish factories in Turkey include Skywell, Chery, and MG.
