More than 64,000 vehicles, including those sold in Turkey, recalled

Volvo has initiated a global recall process for its XC40 model, which is also sold in Turkey. It was stated that the decision covers more than 64,000 vehicles produced between 2020 and 2022.

The reason for the recall was announced as a technical risk identified in the vehicles' high-voltage battery packs. According to the information provided, preventive inspections will be carried out against the possibility of overheating and fire in the battery blocks.

The company plans to have the battery packs checked at authorized service centers and to perform necessary updates and part replacements free of charge. XC40 owners are advised to check whether their vehicles are included in the recall via official channels or authorized service centers using their chassis numbers.

SIMILAR STEPS TAKEN PREVIOUSLY

According to information shared by Car Recall EU, Volvo had also made a recall decision in 2025 for more than 76,000 vehicles covering the XC40 and XC60 models. In that process, the issue was linked to a digital communication incompatibility between the gas and brake pedals in the "B mode" of hybrid models and the "One Pedal" driving function in fully electric vehicles.

It was stated that the malfunction in question could affect braking performance and increase the risk of accidents, and Volvo aimed to resolve the problem through service intervention. The new recall highlights the brand's focus on battery safety during its electrification process.
