New car turns out to be cheaper than used

The price confusion in the second-hand automobile market has come to the fore once again with a striking incident. A citizen purchased a zero-kilometer version of a vehicle, which was being sold for 1 million 360 thousand TL on a popular second-hand sales site, from a dealership for 1 million 240 thousand TL.

This incident, shared on social media, revealed the imbalance between new and second-hand prices. While the new price of the vehicle with the same model and equipment was listed as 1 million 300 thousand TL on the dealership's website, it was observed that second-hand listings even exceeded this amount.

EXORBITANT PRICES IN SECOND-HAND

Especially in a period when access to new vehicles has become difficult due to high tax rates, rising interest rates, and inflation, the second-hand market stands out as an alternative. However, this situation causes some opportunists to excessively inflate second-hand prices.

SCT HIKE ON AUGUST 1 MAY INCREASE DEMAND FURTHER

While the Special Consumption Tax (SCT) increase, which came into effect as of August 1, pushes the prices of new vehicles upward, it is predicted that the demand for second-hand vehicles will also increase. This could lead to even higher prices in the already inflated second-hand market.
