Number of electric vehicles in Turkey has increased fivefold
The share of electric vehicles in the Turkish automobile market is increasing exponentially.
With the entry of the domestic electric car brand Togg and Tesla onto Turkish roads, interest in electric vehicles has increased even further. According to data shared by Futureflowlife from the Turkish Electric and Hybrid Vehicles Association (TEHAD), this number reached 72,179 in 2023. Thus, sales increased by 496 percent with the impact of Togg and Tesla entering the market in 2023.
According to data from the Turkish Statistical Institute (TÜİK), 14,552 electric cars were sold in Turkey in 2022. Elaris General Coordinator Volkan Demir stated that the demand for electric vehicles in Turkey has accelerated charging network infrastructure work and investments in charging stations, and pointed out that the number of charging stations in Turkey has increased by 185 percent.
According to 2023 data from the Automotive Distributors and Mobility Association (ODMD), Togg sold 19,583 vehicles throughout 2023. In comparison, Tesla recorded 12,150 deliveries.
