Record fines for those without authorization certificates in second-hand vehicle trade
The Ministry of Trade has increased its inspections of individuals and businesses lacking authorization certificates in the second-hand car trade. New sanctions implemented to prevent unregistered activities and protect consumer rights are drawing attention.
The Ministry of Trade announced that, during inspections conducted under the Regulation on the Trade of Motor Land Vehicles, a total of approximately 72 million lira in administrative fines were imposed on 101 individuals and legal entities selling second-hand vehicles without an authorization certificate.
In a statement made by the Ministry via social media, it was stated: "Within the scope of examinations and inspections carried out under the Regulation on the Trade of Motor Land Vehicles, administrative fines totaling approximately 72 million TL have been imposed on 101 individuals and legal entities found to be engaged in the trade of second-hand motor land vehicles without an authorization certificate. Thus, the total amount of administrative fines imposed by our Ministry on persons found to be engaged in the trade of second-hand motor land vehicles without an authorization certificate has reached 102 million TL."
The Ministry stated that inspections are continuing uninterrupted to prevent informality and consumer grievances in the second-hand vehicle trade. Furthermore, the necessity of an authorization certificate was emphasized in order to increase the service quality and customer satisfaction of businesses operating in the sector. It was reported that, to date, second-hand motor land vehicle trade authorization certificates have been issued to 72 thousand 726 businesses.
Administrative fines continue to be imposed on individuals and organizations found to be trading without an authorization certificate during regular checks. The Ministry of Trade emphasized that inspections and regulations will be continued with determination to create a fair and secure trading environment in the sector.
