Toyota recalls over 580,000 vehicles due to various defects
Toyota Motor has recalled more than 580,000 vehicles due to an assembly error in the parking brake and water leakage in the windshield.
According to Japan's state broadcaster NHK, Toyota has submitted a recall notification to Japan's Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism (MLIT).
The notification covers more than 580,000 vehicles of the "Sienta" and "Japan Taxi" models manufactured between May 2015 and March 2023.
BRAKE AND WINDSHIELD DEFECTS
It was stated that in the models in question, the bolts on the parking brake pedal were not securely fastened, which could lead to the bolts loosening and falling out.
The defect was noted to carry risks including both preventing the parking brake from engaging correctly and the brake remaining constantly active.
Another defect reported is that the windshield moldings may leak rainwater, which could cause the cables to get wet and lead to the electric sliding doors opening.
Toyota stated that the recalled vehicles will undergo free inspections at dealerships across the country, and parts will be replaced if necessary.
