Behind the scenes: What does the İYİ Party expect from the CHP for an alliance?

There is less than 6 months left until the local elections on March 31, 2024. While the AKP is making plans to retake the metropolitan municipalities it lost in 2019, especially Istanbul and Ankara, alliance discussions continue on the opposition front.

While the İYİ Party has decided to field candidates in all 81 provinces for the local elections, whether the change in leadership at the Republican People's Party (CHP) will lead to an alliance for the local elections remains a subject of curiosity.

Bizim TV Editor-in-Chief Şaban Sevinç shared the behind-the-scenes information he obtained regarding the alliance process between the CHP and the İYİ Party on the program "Farklı Açılar" (Different Perspectives) with Kübra Par.

Having spoken with a figure close to İYİ Party leader Meral Akşener, Bizim TV Editor-in-Chief Şaban Sevinç shared the inside information regarding the alliance process between the CHP and the İYİ Party.

"I SPOKE WITH A FIGURE CLOSE TO MS. MERAL"

Stating that he spoke with a figure close to İYİ Party leader Akşener, Sevinç said, "I know that the İYİ Party is closely following the change process within the CHP. I know that they have been watching with curiosity since the change-makers won at the Istanbul congress."

Sevinç continued as follows:

“After Özgür Özel became chairman, I spoke with a figure close to Ms. Meral. Regarding the alliance process, they said, 'We would like to see a statement that honors Ms. Meral and strokes our pride a little, addressing the injustice she faced during the presidential process and the subsequent CHP-İYİ Party debates.'"

AKŞENER HAD SAID "IT IS DIFFICULT FROM NOW ON"

İYİ Party Chairwoman Meral Akşener had said at her party's group meeting regarding the CHP convention, “Greetings were sent to everyone at the CHP congress, except us. That alone is a sign that coming together from now on will be difficult.”
