Claims of return from Yeni Parti to CHP: October 1st rumors for 12 deputies
Journalist Mustafa Yavuz has claimed that 12 deputies who moved to Yeni Parti will return to the CHP on October 1st, when the Turkish Grand National Assembly reconvenes.
In the Taksim Meydanı program broadcast on TGRT Haber, a new behind-the-scenes claim regarding the traffic of deputies between the CHP and Yeni Parti was brought to the agenda. Journalist Mustafa Yavuz claimed that 12 deputies who moved to Yeni Parti will return to the CHP as of October 1st, when the Turkish Grand National Assembly (TBMM) opens.
Yavuz stated that he has been in contact with the individuals in question for some time and that the decision to return was confirmed to him. Noting that he would not disclose their names due to the deputies' request, Yavuz said, "I have the 12 names. They all requested very strongly, 'do not say our names.' But as of October 1st, they will return to the Republican People's Party (CHP)."
Speaking on the program, journalist Ferhat Murat also expressed that he had received similar behind-the-scenes information. Murat stated that CHP Chairman Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu did not want to make a special effort regarding some deputies who moved to Yeni Parti, and conveyed that Kılıçdaroğlu said, "I do not want to call anyone. Regarding this matter, those who stay will stay, those who go will go."
Murat also argued that the expectations of some individuals who moved to Yeni Parti were not met, and that there is a possibility that those who did not get the result they wanted, especially regarding a first-place guarantee or provincial presidency, might turn back to the CHP.
Mustafa Yavuz, on the other hand, claimed that there is significant activity within Yeni Parti. Stating that some individuals who left the CHP have re-established contact with CHP executives, Yavuz said that there are also transitions from different parties to the CHP in Istanbul. Yavuz suggested that there could be "large-scale defections" from Yeni Parti in the coming period.
