Convention traffic accelerates in CHP: 6 names mentioned for the chairmanship listed

Following the court's "absolute nullity" ruling in the CHP, all eyes have turned to the convention planned for 2027. With Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu's return to the chairmanship, potential candidacies have also become a topic of discussion in party corridors.

Kılıçdaroğlu has not yet made an official statement regarding whether he will be a candidate at the convention. However, it is stated that his inner circle wants Kılıçdaroğlu to run again and continue in the role.

The first signal of candidacy for the chairmanship came from former CHP Mersin Deputy Prof. Dr. Aytuğ Atıcı. Before announcing his candidacy, Atıcı visited Kılıçdaroğlu to convey his decision. Emphasizing that the visit was not intended to seek permission, approval, or support, Atıcı also told Kılıçdaroğlu that he did not want him to run.

It was reported that during the meeting, Atıcı said to Kılıçdaroğlu, "I would not want you to be a candidate. Because you have been worn out a lot. You said, 'I will bring the party to a safe harbor.' That person is me. You described me. I am one of the people to whom you will hand over the ship."

Atıcı also stated that some names from Kılıçdaroğlu's circle might suggest he run again, adding, "If I were in your place, I would not want such a thing." It was learned that Kılıçdaroğlu replied to Atıcı, "Good luck. Working is good. We need to pull the party together."

A notable statement regarding potential candidates in the party came from CHP Elazığ Deputy Gürsel Erol. Stating, "I do not find Mr. Kemal's candidacy right," Erol expressed that everyone could be a candidate in this process.

While listing the names mentioned for the chairmanship, Erol said, "Just as Mr. Aytuğ Atıcı sees himself entitled to be a candidate, Muharrem İnce is also there, Mr. Engin Altay's name is mentioned, Mr. Oğuz Kağan Salıcı's name is mentioned, Mr. Ali Öztunç's name is mentioned, and Mr. Vahap Seçer's name is mentioned." Erol stated that it was too early to comment on the candidacy, adding, "Being a candidate is everyone's right. We cannot oppose anyone."
