Decision from DEM Party on Istanbul and Mersin! The Ankara and Bolu detail...

DEM Party Co-Chairs Tülay Hatimoğulları and Tuncer Bakırhan made significant progress in their election-focused meeting yesterday with CHP Chairman Özgür Özel at the CHP headquarters.

According to the report by Namık Durukan from T24; the meeting addressed how the parties would act in cities such as Istanbul, Izmir, Ankara, Adana, and Mersin.

ANKARA, BOLU, AND AYDIN

During the meeting, the two parties agreed to establish "rapid communication" through committees to be formed. The DEM Party, which places special importance on provinces such as Ankara, Bolu, and Aydın, clearly and explicitly stated that it would not support CHP candidates in these cities.

DEM PARTY EXPECTS SUPPORT IN TOROSLAR AND AKDENIZ DISTRICTS

According to the statement by DEM Party Spokesperson Ayşegül Doğan, the party leadership will definitely field candidates in Ankara, Antalya, Bolu, Konya, Kocaeli, Kayseri, and Samsun. Since the first meeting with the CHP, the party leadership had clearly emphasized that it would field a candidate in Ankara. The DEM Party had expressed its distance from Ankara Metropolitan Mayor Mansur Yavaş in many statements. However, the doors have always been left ajar for Istanbul Metropolitan Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu and Mersin Metropolitan Mayor Vahap Seçer. It is stated that the DEM Party has requested a number of council memberships in some metropolitan areas where it could be effective, and also for the CHP to support the DEM Party in district municipalities in some metropolitan areas.

The DEM Party expects support in the Akdeniz and Toroslar districts of Mersin. Support is being sought here for the DEM Party, which has a potential to win the Akdeniz Municipality in particular. The CHP has not yet determined candidates in either district.

ISTANBUL LEFT TO THE SECOND STAGE

The DEM Party will set up ballot boxes in 90 electoral districts on January 13-14 and hold a primary election with the votes of 100 thousand delegates. Following this, the party's stance on critical locations will become clear.

CITY CONSENSUS

Prior to the local elections, the DEM Party had announced that different candidates could be supported under the concept of "City Consensus." It was also stated that it is possible to form alliances with left-wing and socialist forces at the local level.
