Erdoğan's remarks on 'interviews' at the MKYK: A striking claim ahead of teacher appointments!

Ahead of the teacher appointments expected to be made following the Cabinet meeting, a striking claim has emerged from the AKP MKYK.

According to a report by the Cumhuriyet newspaper; Erdoğan announced on April 11, 2023, at the AKP Election Manifesto and Parliamentary Candidate Introduction Meeting at the Ankara Sports Hall, prior to the May 14 and 28 general elections, that interviews for public sector recruitment would be abolished and that, except for requirements necessitated by the job itself, recruitment would be based on the candidates' success rankings in exams without interviews.

MINISTER TEKİN HAD DEFENDED INTERVIEWS

Minister of National Education Yusuf Tekin also recently argued that "interviews are important in the selection of teachers and help identify the best and most qualified candidates."

The AKP's promise to abolish interviews in the public sector was also brought up at the latest MKYK meeting chaired by Erdoğan.

"HOW WILL WE KNOW THEY WON'T BETRAY THE STATE"

It was noted that while evaluating "why the AKP was not successful" in the March 31 local elections, an MKYK member took the floor and said, "Citizens say that if they don't have a relative who is an AKP member, they cannot get a job. Many criticisms were made in this direction before the elections as well."

It was stated that Erdoğan was angered by the words of the AKP MKYK member.

It was recorded that Erdoğan said to the MKYK member, "Why are interviews important? If there are no interviews, other people will nest in the state. Care must be taken in recruitment for the survival of the state. How will we know that the people who will be hired will not betray the state tomorrow?"
