Significant developments are taking place regarding the terrorist organization PKK's disarmament process. DEM Party Spokesperson Ayşegül Doğan stated that the PKK will take a historic step next week in accordance with its February 27 call. The process is expected to begin with a symbolic ceremony to be held within the borders of the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) in Iraq.

VIDEO MESSAGE EXPECTED FROM ÖCALAN

According to a report by Ceren Bayar from T24, it is claimed that before the PKK's disarmament step, terrorist Abdullah Öcalan will release a video message addressed to the public and his organization. It is reported that in the message, which is said to be filmed at İmralı Prison, Öcalan will declare that a new era has begun for the organization and will emphasize that this era should be pursued with an understanding of "non-armed struggle."

The content of the message is also expected to include calls to Parliament and statements regarding the need for legal regulations for "returns."

ARMS TO BE LAID DOWN WITH A CEREMONY

Following the message from PKK leader Öcalan, a group of 30 to 50 PKK members will lay down their arms in a designated area within the KRG borders. This process will begin with an official ceremony led by KCK executives. While it is not yet clear whether the weapons will be surrendered, the option of controlled destruction is on the agenda. It is stated that the terrorists who lay down their arms will wait in designated safe zones in the region.

The disarmament process will not be merely an internal organizational development. Many journalists, writers, civil society representatives, and academics are expected to attend to observe the process. It is stated that in addition to political parties with groups in Parliament, a DEM Party delegation, government representatives, and KRG officials will also be present at the ceremony.

In Ankara political circles, it is noted that Öcalan's message and the footage of the disarmament could change the political landscape in Turkey. There is curiosity about how the government will manage this process and whether a dialogue platform similar to the previous resolution process will be entered into.

Following the process, a commission is expected to be established in Parliament, and legal amendments regulating returns are expected to come to the agenda.
