How will the citizen's Ramadan table affect the election? AKP's concern over high costs

As local elections approach, political maneuvering behind the scenes has gained momentum.

With the start of the month of Ramadan, crowded iftar tables and food inflation are straining the citizens' pockets.

Gazete Pencere columnist Nuray Babacan drew attention to the impact of the month of Ramadan on the AKP in her column today.

"THEY SAY IT WILL LEAVE THE AKP IN A DIFFICULT POSITION"

Babacan stated the following:

"Another issue is the effects of the local election campaign coinciding with the month of Ramadan. There are different views on this. There are those who argue that this will be an advantage or turn into a disadvantage. Some say that seeing the rising prices of everything at iftar tables and discussing this constantly will leave the AKP in a difficult position. According to some politicians, everyone will prepare Ramadan packages and distribute aid money due to the local election race. There is a claim that this situation will create an advantage for the ruling party as it will make low-income earners forget their problems for a while."

WILL RETIREES PROTEST?

It is being discussed that a portion of the elderly and retired voters of the AKP might protest and not go to the polls. It is explained that voter reflexes have weakened because there is no question of a change in government, and there is also a problem of voter fatigue due to the general elections held a short time ago. As a result of all these analyses, a decline of 3-5 percentage points in votes across Turkey is expected for the AKP due to both the YRP effect and voter reaction. It is claimed that the YRP has 3.5 percent of the vote in Istanbul and 4.5-5 percent across Turkey."
