Mehmet Akif Ersoy crisis at Habertürk: Claims of his dismissal are on the agenda

It has been alleged that Mehmet Akif Ersoy, who was appointed as the Editor-in-Chief of Habertürk in August 2024, has experienced various disagreements within the institution since the day he took office.

According to information obtained by 12punto, it has been learned that Ersoy has had various disagreements both with names he worked with in the past and with his staff team within Habertürk.

Mehmet Akif Ersoy's divorce a month ago from Pınar Erbaş, who anchors the main news bulletin in the same media group, is also being described as a result of these disagreements.

Ersoy is a name known in the public eye for his proximity to the government. Most recently, he was among the journalists who went to Sulaymaniyah to cover the PKK's symbolic statement on laying down arms.

Habertürk recently drew attention when its owner, Turgay Ciner, transferred the media group to Can Holding. Kenan Tekdağ, who served as the president of the Ciner Media Group for many years, continues to hold the position of media president alongside the group's new owners due to his familial ties with Can Holding.

On the other hand, the recent appointment of Nasuhi Güngör as the Ankara Representative within the institution stood out as another development in the personnel restructuring under Ersoy's management. Information has also leaked that some names from the Ankara team do not want to work with Ersoy.

Following all these developments, while it is claimed that Ersoy's dismissal is "certain," it is alleged that the process will be shaped on a political ground and that the decision to come from Ankara is being awaited.
