The claim that İzmir Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Cemil Tugay, who announced he would continue his path as an independent after resigning from the CHP, will join the AKP has brought a new ceremony plan to the agenda in Ankara political circles.
According to the allegations, President and AKP Chairman Recep Tayyip Erdoğan will pin the AKP badge on Tugay. Initial assessments included the option of announcing the participation at the AKP Group Meeting to be held in the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM) and holding the badge ceremony there.

However, it has been suggested in the corridors that this formula was abandoned on the grounds that a ceremony held in Parliament could trigger a reaction from the opposition.
As reported by Cumhuriyet, the current plan is for Tugay's transition to the party to be announced at the AKP Headquarters during a meeting with members of parliament. It is stated that the AKP Central Executive Board (MYK) will convene following the meeting, which is expected to take place at 11:00.
The official statement regarding Tugay's potential participation is expected to be made once the meeting schedule is finalized.
