Özel had called for 'dialogue'! Murat Yetkin: Erdoğan is preparing for a purge operation within the party

Journalist Murat Yetkin drew attention to the expressions in President and AKP Chairman Recep Tayyip Erdoğan’s holiday message and his meeting with CHP Chairman Özgür Özel. 

CLAIMS OF A PURGE IN THE AKP AFTER THE HOLIDAY

Yetkin stated, “While Erdoğan finds Özel’s call for dialogue valuable, he is, on the other hand, preparing for a purge operation within the AK Party after the holiday.”

Reminding of Erdoğan’s words, “We are a party that has come out first from the ballot box in all 17 elections we have entered in 22 years,” and “Election results are, of course, the subject of a separate and comprehensive evaluation. Like every party, we are conducting, and will continue to conduct, an accounting of the elections. Without ever taking the easy way out, we are reading the messages given by the nation at the ballot box in all their dimensions and analyzing them down to the finest detail. We took the first step of this at the Central Executive Board meeting we held last week. Hopefully, we will continue our consultations by constantly expanding the circle,” Yetkin continued his assessment as follows:

“Returning to our topic, Özel’s call for dialogue is important as an effort to take initiative and set the agenda. It is important that Erdoğan finds Özel’s call valuable, but it will gain meaning and value when it is implemented.”
