AI investments are rising: Decision quality in companies is not improving at the same pace

While AI investments are rapidly increasing in the business world, it is emphasized that companies need to improve their decision-making processes to the same extent. According to Microsoft's 2026 Work Trend Index Annual Report, 49 percent of companies are heavily using AI in their analysis and decision-support processes.

The report also points out that the impact of AI on business is not limited to technology usage alone. Accordingly, 67 percent of this impact stems from factors such as organizational structure, management approach, and corporate culture. This picture highlights the importance for institutions of not just possessing data, but being able to make the right decisions based on that data in a timely manner.

In recent years, companies have focused on increasing their data collection, data platforms, and analytical capacity. However, according to experts, the new area of competition will not just be producing more data, but establishing a management culture that can transform this data into strategic decisions.

OBASE Co-Founder and CEO Dr. Bülent Dal stated that companies are going through a significant transformation process from data-driven structures to decision-driven structures.

In recent years, institutions have made serious investments in data platforms and AI technologies. However, organizations also need to mature their decision-making processes at the same speed. Companies that can create real business value from AI will be those that stand out from those that only produce analysis, by being able to make the right decision at the right time.

According to this assessment, the priority for institutions in the AI era is to integrate technology into decision-making mechanisms rather than positioning it solely as an analysis tool. The competency for fast, reliable, and strategic decision-making is cited as one of the determining factors for companies to derive real business value from their AI investments.
