Famous cigarette brand to close its last factory

The German city of Dresden was once known as the center of the tobacco industry. However, cigarette production there is steadily declining. Philip Morris, one of the world's leading tobacco companies, announced that it will close its last production facility in Germany on July 31. This decision will lead to the majority of its 274 employees becoming unemployed. It is stated that some employees will be transferred to the facility in Berlin.

Philip Morris had previously announced that the factories in Berlin and Dresden would close by the end of 2024. Currently, tobacco is processed and cigarettes are produced at these facilities, but in Berlin, only tax stamps for the German market will be printed. This situation means that the company is completely ending its tobacco production in Germany.
