A decision has been reached in the environmental impact assessment process for the military and civilian ship manufacturing project that Dearsan Gemi İnşaat Sanayi A.Ş. plans to implement in the Çayırova district of Kocaeli. The project, submitted by the company to the Kocaeli Provincial Directorate of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change, was found to be in compliance with regulations and received an "EIA Positive" decision.

The planning data also included the construction of 68 passenger ships of various sizes and 3 submarines.

The facility, which currently manufactures sheet metal parts for the shipbuilding sector and has an annual capacity of 464 tons, is aimed to be transformed into a more comprehensive production center in the fields of defense and civilian maritime with the new investment.
In the project, for which the investment cost is announced as 16 million 450 thousand TL, hull production and block assembly processes will be completed at the land facility in Çayırova. The produced ship hulls will be transported by road to Dearsan's main shipyard in Tuzla.
