He had sponsored Fenerbahçe: Hamdi Ulukaya’s brand Chobani is coming to the Turkish market
Hamdi Ulukaya, who is listed by Forbes as the richest Turk with a fortune of 11.3 billion dollars, has decided to invest in Turkey for Chobani.
Businessman Hamdi Ulukaya, who has drawn attention in the food sector with the Chobani brand he founded in the USA, has clarified his investment plan for the Turkish market. Speaking to Nilgün Balcı Çavdar from Forbes Turkey, Ulukaya answered the question of whether he would invest in Turkey by saying, "Yes... I have now made my decision definitively."
Ulukaya, who is shown as the "richest Turk in the world" with a fortune of 11.3 billion dollars according to Forbes Magazine's billionaire list, stated that Turkey stands out in his investment route after the USA.
I make decisions quickly, but I think long-term. In the long run, the smartest investment after the USA is in Turkey.
TURKEY PLAN BECOMING CLEAR
Born in Elazığ in 1972, Ulukaya went to the USA to learn English after his university education in Turkey, later continuing his life there and founding Chobani in 2007. Over time, the brand became one of the largest yogurt producers in the USA.
The report stated that Ulukaya's company is valued at over 20 billion dollars. It is not yet clear whether Chobani will enter Turkey directly with its own brand or whether a partnership model with a company producing in Turkey will be preferred.
Ulukaya also found a wide place on the Turkish agenda last year with the sponsorship agreement made with Fenerbahçe. It was stated that a deal was reached on a 120 million euro package for the Şükrü Saracoğlu Stadium to be named "Chobani Stadium" for 10 years and for jersey chest sponsorship in European matches within the scope of the agreement.
Chobani's entry plan into the Turkish market will be closely watched in terms of both food retail and domestic production and investment models. Ulukaya's statements indicate that new steps regarding the brand's positioning in Turkey may come to the agenda in the short term.
