Koç Holding enters a new sector by spending billions of euros
Following its investments in the healthcare sector, Koç Holding is now turning to the cryptocurrency field with plans to establish a new exchange. Yapı Kredi Bank will undergo a capital increase for this purpose.
Koç Holding, which has made a name for itself with its investments in the healthcare sector, is now preparing to step into the cryptocurrency industry.
Having acquired a private healthcare chain in Antalya last year, the Koç Group also purchased a majority stake in Stembio, which operates in the field of stem cell and tissue technologies, in November.
Following these investments, the company, which continues its operations in traditional fields, has now decided to invest in the cryptocurrency sector.
A NEW CRYPTOCURRENCY EXCHANGE IS COMING
Yapı ve Kredi Bankası, one of Koç Holding's key subsidiaries, stated in a disclosure to the Public Disclosure Platform (KAP) that they would not remain indifferent to developments in the cryptocurrency sector. The bank announced its plans to establish a new cryptocurrency exchange under the umbrella of Yapı Kredi Finansal Teknolojiler A.Ş.
It was announced that the bank will undergo a capital increase to provide the necessary capital for this new venture. The statement included the following: "The Bank's Board of Directors has decided that our Bank will participate in capital increases of up to a total of 1,185,000,000 TL to be made by March 26, 2026, by Yapı Kredi Finansal Teknolojiler A.Ş., a company wholly owned by our Bank, in order to meet the capital requirements of the company planned to be established to operate a crypto asset trading platform, subject to obtaining the necessary permits; and that the General Directorate has been authorized to carry out all necessary applications and transactions. Important developments regarding the process will be shared with our investors."
This new investment by Koç Holding aims to strengthen the company's presence in the digital finance field.
