Uber enters the Turkish market with Trendyol GO
The Competition Authority has approved Uber's acquisition of an 85 percent stake in Trendyol GO, paving the way for the company to operate in the grocery and food delivery sector in Turkey.
The Competition Authority has given the green light for Uber Technologies, Inc. to acquire a majority stake in Trendyol GO. With this approval, Uber is expected to bring its global grocery and food delivery services, operated under the UberEats brand, to Turkey.
In evaluating Uber's application, the Board concluded that this acquisition would not negatively affect the competitive environment in Turkey. It was noted that there were no concerns regarding the creation of a dominant position in the market or the strengthening of an existing one. Thus, Uber has been granted permission to enter the e-commerce and food delivery market in Turkey.
