America drew the roadmap in 2007

Even though the government says there is "no negotiation," it is now very clear that the issue will extend to a constitutional amendment that will ensure Tayyip Erdoğan remains in that seat for the rest of his life.

Abdullah Öcalan sent a message to the DEM Party members who went to İmralı, stating, "There is a need for a new contract based on the law of brotherhood. What we are doing represents a major paradigm shift," and pointed to a new starting line.

If they can manage it, a new constitution will be drafted; if not, radical changes that will satisfy the Kurds will be made to the existing constitution.

We are facing a critical process, and behind this process is the US.

Let no one have any doubts!

Moreover, they drew the roadmap 18 years ago and placed it before the government in Turkey.

Come, let us continue to dig through the archives to refresh our memories.

Last week, we wrote that today's meal began to be cooked in 2009. 

To better understand and make sense of the issue, let us go back two years from that point.

On October 15, 2007, a report titled "Disarming, Demobilizing and Reintegrating the PKK," prepared by David Phillips, Deputy Director of the National Committee on American Foreign Policy, was released.

This report was a roadmap for the Kurdish opening.

It was, in a sense, homework for the government.

It had actually been conveyed to Ankara earlier, but since they thought keeping it secret would not serve any purpose, they chose to announce it to the public before the end of 2007.

At that time, Tayyip Erdoğan hit the brakes because he knew the cost of the "Kurdish opening" would be heavy, but he has no such fear now.

He is aware that there is no turning back from this stage and that he can maintain his power as long as he has America's backing.

Therefore, it is possible to say that he is still proceeding along the lines of that roadmap today.

In the introduction of the report, it was stated: "Barzani and Talabani should use their influence to establish a 12-month ceasefire with the PKK. This would lead to a show of hands between Turkey and the PKK and create a cooling-off period that would allow Turkey to implement reforms."

However, it no longer feels the need for the mediation of Iraqi Kurds. It conducts its business with the DEM party members very comfortably.

At the forefront of the proposals brought by David Phillips was constitutional change:

"The drafting of Turkey's civilian constitution is an ongoing process. In the meantime, legal reforms must continue, especially the repeal of Article 301 of the Penal Code, which criminalizes insulting Turkishness and criticizing state institutions. Reforms should also be made to Articles 215, 217, and 220 of the Penal Code, which restrict freedom of speech and target Kurds, as well as the Anti-Terror Law, which provides a very broad definition of terrorism. Measures must also be taken to transform the judiciary, which is very rigid, unaccountable, and deeply conservative. Cultural rights should be expanded to include the use of Kurdish in state-owned media. Public education and public services should also be improved. Restrictions on religious freedoms and minority rights also need to be reviewed."

David Phillips did not just stop at demanding constitutional change.

For the steps in the roadmap to be taken, the Turkish Armed Forces had to be brought to the state desired by America.

Otherwise, he knew that the AKP would hardly be able to make any progress.

For this reason, the report stated, "Turkey's armed forces must act like a 'democratic army'," issuing a veiled threat and supporting the Ergenekon and Balyoz conspiracy cases.

What happened in the process leading up to July 15 after that is known to everyone!

The report also brought the issue of amnesty to the agenda:

"When the AKP came to power and Abdullah Gül was Prime Minister, nationalists and the military intervened to block the government's 'remorse plan.' Now is the time for the AKP to take advantage of its recent electoral success to secretly forge an amnesty deal that will help convince the PKK to disarm and disband. Priority should be given to those who joined the PKK after 2002. Levels without command responsibility should come to an end. The 134 senior commanders sought by Interpol with red notices should not be included in the amnesty, but they should be able to apply for asylum in the countries where they are located, including Iraq. The terminology used will be critical; the phrase 'general amnesty' is highly controversial. Instead, the phrase 'reintegration into society' is more satisfactory for disarmament, disbandment, and integration."

Before the flames of the debate over the report had even died down, Tayyip Erdoğan met with Bush at the White House on November 5, 2007. 

This was a turning point in the process following the 'hood event' scandal that occurred in Sulaymaniyah in 2003.

He had received the support he wanted in Washington, filled his sails with Bush's wind, and pressed the button after returning to Turkey.

Following this, the groundwork for the Kurdish opening to be launched in the summer of 2009 would be prepared.

Now Trump sits in Bush's chair. For our people, this is like finding apricots in Damascus...

When he was elected, they were practically dancing with joy. 

They believe that Trump is behind them on the path toward an Islamist-Kurdish federation! 

Because they have never read the recent history of the Middle East, they think that as long as they have America's support, they will be able to continue on their path as they please!

However, that is not quite how it works.

When the final scene of the play arrives, will they ask themselves, "Where did we go wrong?"

Even if they do ask, by then it will be too late!

Today, they may not realize it, but they have already crossed the threshold for recovery.

Let us ask the ten-point expert question: from now on, will reason prevail, or will they stop here?
