When the ruling power bore down on the CHP like a nightmare, Özgür Özel's tendency to say whatever came to his mind at rallies, his outbursts filled with slang, his posturing toward Tayyip Erdoğan by calling him a “coward before God” and saying “if you have the courage...”, and his defiance by claiming, “I would rather rot in Silivri with my honor than sit at the head of this party with your permission,” left the other side of the political spectrum in tears of joy!

He was supposedly standing up to the government fiercely, cornering Tayyip Erdoğan with his harsh words and courage.

“Look at the kind of leader that emerged from within him...” and so on.

Let's not beat around the bush...

We don't know what exactly emerged from within Özgür Özel, but whatever it is, it is not a “leader”...

Nobody take offense.

Özgür Özel does not have that kind of fabric.

As Ziya Paşa said, a person's mirror is their work, not their words. You can make as many “harsh outbursts” as you want, but where do you end up in the end!

The whole world knows that Tayyip Erdoğan will not bring the ballot box just because someone is screaming until their vocal cords tear.

Moreover, talk of “the AKP has reached the end of the road, the wall of fear has been breached” is empty.

For example, when Baykal took up the saz, he would talk a big game; when the time came, Kılıçdaroğlu also roared, even if he didn't exactly rain down. The result is clear; Baykal paved the way for Tayyip Erdoğan through various schemes, saying “He will make me President”; Kılıçdaroğlu ensured he sat comfortably in his seat for 13 years, and thanks to him, the CHP became the opposition of His Majesty.

In short, we are not interested in whether he speaks harshly or softly.

What matters is where he stands politically!

But setting aside his clarity, Özgür Özel doesn't even have an ideology. Political consistency is nowhere to be found. He is oblivious to the principles of the party he leads.

The other day, he sent a message to the Palace in his own way, saying, “He doesn't say to me, ‘Come, let's talk about the country's issues.’ The moment he says that, I will go, and he will come. We will sit down and talk. When you say country issues; for instance, from the issue Devlet Bey mentioned as a ‘Terror-Free Turkey,’ which we expect as a ‘Terror-Free and Democratic Turkey,’ to him saying ‘I will improve the situation of the retirees.’ I swear I would run there in a heartbeat. Let him say ‘Let's talk about the minimum wage,’ I will go. He doesn't even say ‘Constitution’ or anything.”

From these words, we understand that he has not given up on the politics of “softening, warming up”! He continues to cozy up...

Let us underline this with a thick pen; you can discuss the country's issues with someone whose concern is the country, but you cannot discuss the country's issues with someone whose only concern is power and holding onto their seat.

He is still not at that point, and furthermore, he insists stubbornly, “I will not reach that point.”

He might have other calculations, we don't know!

For example, he is going to run to the Palace to talk about these things, but will the government raise the retirees' salaries just because he wants it to? Will it increase the minimum wage, or will it release the CHP mayors it sent to Silivri?

Come on, let's maintain our good intentions and say, “he still hasn't shed his amateurism”...

But what about him being at the head of the CHP, which until yesterday was seen as the guarantor of the country's territorial integrity, political unity, and unitary structure, yet speaking in the language of imperialists:

“100 years ago, this country was saved together by Kurds and Turks, in peace and solidarity, arm in arm. As we always say, ‘Our grandfathers lie side by side in Çanakkale.’ If, 100 years later, we can overcome this issue, if Turkey can get rid of this terror problem, and if we can seize an opportunity where Kurd and Turk are arm in arm, Alevi and Sunni are arm in arm...”

His sentences reek of identity politics, ethnicism, and sectarianism.

Isn't this the jargon that Kurdish nationalists, who have been camouflaged within the Islamists since 2002, have used to become partners in the title deed of the country?

They will manufacture consent in this way so that the people of my country do not object.

Özgür Özel knows this perfectly well. But he is still dying to be a partner in the betrayal process that will tear the country, which the government calls “Terror-Free Turkey,” into pieces.

It is as if it is eating him up inside that he cannot go to the PKK's disarmament theater in Sulaymaniyah. The DEM Party invited him. Even so, they cannot accept because the invitation did not come from the state, but that does not mean they do not support this process.

While his words were still fresh, as if to make one say “Look at the work of God,” Abdullah Öcalan sent a video from İmralı declaring the manifesto of the process.

“This manifesto is of a nature to successfully replace the approximately 50-year-old ‘Path of the Kurdistan Revolution’ manifesto. I believe it carries a historical social content not only for the Kurdish historical society but also for the regional and global society.”

Then he says:

“I must clearly state that all these developments are taking place as a result of the meetings I held in İmralı. Maximum attention has been paid to ensuring that the meetings are conducted on the basis of free will.”

What more can he say? The only thing missing is a victory cry.

Will someone from within the party stand up and ask him, “Are we supporting this now!”

It is clear that the CHP is still under the influence of the ethnicist and sectarian cadres that nested during the Kılıçdaroğlu era, and Özgür Özel thinks that the way to look charming to the imperialists is to sing tunes for Kurdish nationalists.

But when it comes to talk, it's all about the CHP's historical roots, republicanism, revolutionism, enlightenment, principles, the indivisible integrity of the country, blah, blah...
