'The internal front'

The millstone of the "agenda" in Turkey turns so fast that we have stopped trying to catch up; it has become almost impossible to even grasp it by the edges. We are chasing an agenda that is updated—to use the fashionable term—at least three times a day, if not five.

These days, the issue of "fortifying the internal front" is in vogue!

Tayyip Erdoğan and Bahçeli are insisting on it.

Supposedly, Turkey is in Israel's crosshairs, and we must be in unity and solidarity to eliminate this threat, and so on...

He came out and said:

"Today, Turkey's greatest need is a politics of unity and brotherhood. By believing in each other, trusting each other, and with 86 million hearts beating as one, we will hopefully reach beautiful tomorrows all together."

His partner did not fall behind:

"Israel's ultimate goal is clear. Even if our warnings regarding this have disturbed some, it is unthinkable that the inevitable outcome will be any different. Israel's political and strategic aim is to encircle the Anatolian geography and sabotage the goal of a terror-free Turkey on behalf of its masters."

We don't know whether to laugh or cry!

Has Tayyip Erdoğan, who has missed almost no opportunity to polarize the people of my country until today, suddenly experienced an enlightenment or found guidance, and now realized the importance of the internal front?

Of course not.

We already know that this is not his concern. What he understands by the internal front is this:

 "Stop opposing me, follow my lead..."

For him, the rest is just empty talk!

Whenever Tayyip Erdoğan finds himself in a tight spot, wants to pressure the opposition, or is concerned with manufacturing the consent of the people of my country, he clings to the "internal front" issue.

There are dozens, perhaps hundreds of examples in the past.

It is known to all of us that he makes Machiavelli look like an amateur in pragmatism.

When he marches on by invoking religion, faith, homeland, nation, and Sakarya, this strategy mostly yielded results because the CHP would be left standing like a rabbit caught in headlights.

However, the matter is now extending to a much more serious point; he is pursuing a new constitution that will ensure he sits in that seat until his final day, and in return, will appease the Kurds.

In the minds of that faction is an Islamist-Kurdish federation where Tayyip Erdoğan would rule as a post-modern Caliph.

They want to destroy the Republic founded by Mustafa Kemal Atatürk in plain sight.

It is not for nothing that he recently said, "Being Muslim is the supreme identity of us all!" He is clearly testing the waters to completely abolish secularism.

He has described the very ground upon which they intend to build the new Turkey in a single sentence.

They have already started to stir it up slowly on news channels and social media.

Now, by saying "internal front" and the like, he is beckoning the CHP.

Because he is aware that, no matter what, he cannot finalize this business without the support of the CHP.

This is also the reason for Abdullah Öcalan's insistence on the CHP.

Let us recall the statement made by DEM's Bakırhan after the meeting in İmralı: "He attaches great importance to the CHP. He says that the support, contribution, and involvement of the CHP are of great importance. Just as he attaches importance to Bahçeli's move, he sees the inclusion of the CHP in this process as equally important."

Öcalan is on the same line as Tayyip Erdoğan and Bahçeli. That is, he is in favor of the CHP following the government's lead by saying "internal front"!

Moreover, he has taken on a mission, in his own mind, of preventing Israel from targeting Turkey and doing as it pleases in the Middle East.

He must be thinking that if the CHP gets involved, provides support, or at least remains silent, the reaction of the people of my country can be controlled.

This is also why he wants to meet with Özgür Özel or Sezgin Tanrıkulu.

Yet, the issue has a sensitivity for the people of my country that goes beyond the CHP.

In other words, it is not that simple.

At this point, the question whose answer is of critical importance is this:

Where will this matter lead?

It is clear that the government is emboldened by Özgür Özel's ambiguous stance so far and his statements, which often have unclear meanings.

The fact that the CHP does not display a principled opposition, and maintains an air of "we have no objection to the essence, but we can discuss the procedure," works in their favor.

In the parliamentary group meeting, he said;

"If you fill the internal courtyard with the next President of Turkey and our presidential candidate, you can never strengthen the internal front. To those who say 'internal front' from here, I say: First democracy, first justice! Then see how strong Turkey becomes..."

If we look at his statement, it is clear that he has not quite grasped the seriousness of the matter.

We have a major problem with rights, law, and justice; democracy is no longer even mentioned; they throw anyone who opens their mouth into prison, and they crush anyone who raises an eyebrow. No one objects to this, but we also know that they want to drag Turkey into an extremely dangerous place with this "internal front" story.

He is setting up the political equation incorrectly.

If Tayyip Erdoğan says, "Okay, let it be as you say," then what will he do?

That is, if İmamoğlu, other CHP mayors, imprisoned journalists, students, and so on are released, and if he takes three or five token steps in the name of democracy, will Özgür Özel follow Tayyip Erdoğan by saying, "Let us fortify the internal front"?

Will he support the Constitution of an Islamist-Kurdish federation and the Kurds becoming partners in the title deed of the country?

Will he say "yes" to Tayyip Erdoğan sitting in that seat until the end of his life?

This is where the rubber meets the road!

We shall all see together!
