The US–Israel duo continues its attacks on Iran. Iran is showing a level of resistance far beyond the predictions of Western experts. While opposing the aggression, barbarism, and banditry of the US and Israel, the Iranian people—whether they support the regime or oppose it—are defending their homeland, their nation, and their state. The imperialist US is dismantling the very world order for which it set the rules and established the institutions. As it has admitted itself, its allies (such as Canada and Germany) also acknowledge this.
The US and Israel aim to break Iran's resistance, fighting spirit, capability, and capacity from a military perspective, and to eliminate its nuclear activities and facilities. Their political goals are to change the regime and, if they can manage it, to fragment Iran along ethnic lines.
We know that the imperialist US, together with Israel, has long wanted to divide the Middle East on religious, sectarian, and ethnic grounds, and to make the countries of the region fight each other over these identities. It made progress on this in Iraq. It got what it wanted in Syria. Now it is attacking Iran. There is no one who does not know that its next target is Turkey. Its goal is to incite Sunni–Shia, Persian–Arab, Persian–Kurdish, Turkish–Persian, Turkish–Kurdish, and Arab–Kurdish wars. To weaken and divide the countries of the region. In this way, to establish a Middle East order under Israel's control.
The model that the US proposes to the countries it divides along the lines of feudal remnants and medieval sub-identities is the Lebanese model, which has never been able to achieve political and economic stability. As is known, in Lebanon, the president is a Maronite Christian, the prime minister is a Sunni, and the speaker of parliament is a Shia. The deputy speaker of parliament and the deputy prime minister are Greek Orthodox. The chief of general staff is a Druze. After invading Iraq in 2003, the US implemented the Lebanese model in Iraq as well. In Iraq, the president is a Kurd, the prime minister is a Shia, and the speaker of parliament is a Sunni.
THE US AND ISRAEL ARE WAR CRIMINALS
The US cares neither for the Geneva Conventions nor the Rome Statute regarding war crimes. For the US, the International Criminal Court, to which it is not a party, and the International Court of Justice (The Hague), to which it is a party but whose compulsory jurisdiction it does not accept, have no meaning. Together with its strategic partner Israel, which commits war crimes, crimes of genocide, and crimes against humanity, it engages in all kinds of barbarism, banditry, and aggression.
The US entered both world wars that took place in the last century at times and under conditions of its own choosing. In both wars, it saved its European allies, primarily the UK. The US, which entered World War I in 1917 and World War II in 1941, was economically strong at that time. For example, when World War II ended, the US share of world production was 50 percent. Today, this rate is just over 20 percent. In other words, since that day, the US share of the world economy has halved. The reflection of this decline on political, military, and diplomatic power is inevitable. As the US becomes economically weaker, its geopolitical aggression in its foreign policy, including resorting to military force, is increasing. Venezuela and Iran are the latest examples of this.
No matter what the US does, just as it has not been able to bring China and Russia into line, it has not been able to prevent China and Russia from drawing closer to each other and leading structures like the SCO and BRICS. The US, which has prioritized encircling China in its immediate vicinity, has not achieved its goal in this regard either. However, the US is an imperialist power. Therefore, even if it sees China as the main major enemy, it cannot be expected to withdraw completely from the Middle East, the Mediterranean, or the Persian Gulf.
THE IMPORTANCE OF THE SEAS FOR THE US
Roughly 90 percent of world trade is conducted by sea. Therefore, for the US, the seas and maritime routes are indispensable not only for their commercial importance but also for the control of strategic routes. Dominating the seas is vital not only in its military, strategic, and geopolitical dimensions but also in its economic and commercial dimensions. The fact that the US dollar remains the reserve currency in global trade also depends largely on maritime dominance.
The fact that the US allowed its European allies, who are experiencing energy shortages, to purchase energy resources from Iran and Russia for a short time, and that it relaxed the sanctions it had imposed on Iran and Russia in this regard (until April), has shown the extent of Europe's insistence on the US and its desperation. One of the most important reasons for the US's insistence on Canada and Greenland, its banditry in Venezuela, and its interest in the Panama Canal is energy.
The US humiliates and scolds Europe, its historical ally (not a strategic ally; it has two strategic allies: Israel and the UK), and belittles Europe's historical identity, values, sensitivities, and priorities. This situation is pushing Europe, albeit timidly, closer to China. It is accelerating the development of its relations with China. The fact that the US, which is attacking Iran, is having difficulty fully convincing even the UK regarding its demands in the Strait of Hormuz, and cannot even bring its close allies that are not NATO members, such as Japan, South Korea, and Australia, into line, also reveals the decline in the US's hegemony capability, ecological dominance, and imperialist control.
This decline of the US is reflected not only in its relations with Europeans but also in NATO. This is the reason why US President Trump, who accused Europeans of ingratitude, disloyalty, and cowardice, said, "Without the US, NATO is a paper tiger." The character analysis of the US president has been done many times. Whether you call it rudeness, arrogance, and unreliability, or an explosion of self-confidence and selfishness, the crack in NATO, which is the attack and occupation apparatus of US imperialism, is significant.
Undoubtedly, this picture pleases China and Russia immensely. The situation the US has fallen into against Iran, and the fact that it is devoting its attention, resources, and energy to Iran, increases the US's financial burden and debts, and undermines its reputation. It creates deep cracks among the ruling elites in US public opinion. Furthermore, it makes Ukraine, whose hopes were already diminishing against Russia, even more hopeless. The weapons that Ukraine expects to be given to it are being used against Iran. The relaxation of sanctions imposed on Russia also strengthens Russia's hand.
In the end, the dilemma experienced by the US and, on a more general scale, the Atlantic alliance, has been seen once again.
