Aleppo is Turkish and will remain Turkish

The subjects I follow but do not quite understand are these neighboring states and the laws of war.

If there is something that puzzles me, I ask my comrade-in-arms Prof. Dr. Barış Doster.

Professor Doster discussed this topic extensively in his article yesterday.

Let me ask this as well, then.

The Syrian civil war that began in 2011 ended with the removal of Assad.

During the war, millions of Syrians took refuge in Turkey.

10 million Syrians stayed in Turkey for 10 years.

They worked, had children, and lived in safety.

They should be grateful that they lived in peace in a friendly country like Turkey, with the exception of minor problems.

They used Turkey's infrastructure.

They used its roads, schools, sewage systems, fire departments, electricity, water, and hospitals.

Yet, they had not paid a price for these investments.

Millions of Syrian children became Turkish because they were born in Turkey.

Their native language became Turkish.

They formed strong bonds of friendship in Turkish schools.

Now, many of them are returning to Syria.

They ate, drank, received medical treatment, and are now returning to their country.

May it be well-deserved.

We fulfilled our duty as neighbors.

However, after such generosity, they are still not safe.

Israel is bombing right under our noses.

We fed, watered, raised, educated, treated, and ensured the security of the people there.

Just because they are one step on the other side of the border, we cannot accept Israel bombing that region.

It is clear that the time to shift our border further south and implement the National Pact (Misak-ı Millî) has come and is passing.

Isn't that right, my comrade-in-arms Prof. Dr. Barış Doster?
