Faith in TOKİ, Not in Piety

It had been on my mind for a while, but I couldn't find the time to write it due to my busy schedule.

Actually, I am still quite busy now. I am teaching engineering students at Vilnius Gediminas Technical University.

I have a very intensive program.

I prepared this piece during a break between classes.

Following the February 6 earthquake that plunged our country into mourning, TOKİ quickly began tenders for earthquake housing.

Despite acting very quickly and directing all its resources to the earthquake zone, it was only able to build thirty thousand homes for earthquake victims within a year.

Technically, it wasn't really possible to do more than that anyway.

Of course, this figure is not small, but it is extremely insufficient when the scale of the disaster is considered.

Our people, who lost their lives, property, and everything in the earthquake, trusted TOKİ and applied for the lottery.

When the lottery results were announced, what did they see!!

Regional members of parliament had acted faster than the citizens and had seized the homes built for earthquake victims through rigged lotteries.

Shameless deputies.

The names of the deputies written on the heated balls spinning in the lottery drum stuck to the hand of the person drawing the lottery just like that.

It is impossible for us to understand this baseness, but let's say we did.

What should we say about these possessors of PIETY (Takva) who walk around in turbans, robes, and kohl, who are claimed to guide thousands of people following them, who prefer Audi cars, and who constantly talk about divine justice, the Quran, faith, and the Sunnah?

Is it because they do not believe in God, or because they believe but do not trust, that they trusted TOKİ instead of their own PIETY, had their names written on heated balls, and got involved in the fake lottery business?

When I read these news reports, I remembered the film TAKVA, directed by Özer Kızıltan in 2005, starring Erkan Can, Meray Ülgen, and Güven Kıraç.

When watching the film, the lifestyle that was said to be impossible to be real and overly exaggerated turned out to be real after all.

In fact, it was even understated in the film.

The film did not mention that they were this devoid of conscience.

May God reform these robed hypocrites.
