Good news from Izmir, may Istanbul be next
It is not my place to write this article.
I have little to do with bar association elections.
I do not really know what a bar association does, nor am I interested.
However, it frustrated me that the former deputy president, who won the Istanbul Bar Association elections in the last term, carried water for separatist factions by making references to the first four articles of the Constitution.
After the backlash, the former deputy president of the Istanbul Bar Association, who retreated into their shell, is running again, as if they might change the first four unchangeable articles of the Constitution this time around.
It makes one's hair stand on end.
Who are these people?
Where were they raised?
What are their goals and objectives?
Why do they want to place dynamite at the foundation of Modern Turkey?
Of course, there is no one who does not know the answers to these questions.
While similar problems were being experienced at the Chamber of Engineers, the backbone of the chamber was corrected through tactical interventions.
The central administration attained a leadership sincerely committed to Atatürk and the founding values, as the chamber, whose members are patriots, had for some reason become a center for rhetoric we are not accustomed to and which we despise.
The fact that similar problems were being experienced at the Izmir Bar Association touched the nerves of the public, and the members, who came to their senses with the manifesto of a young lawyer, brought a smile to everyone's face.
By winning the election, they brought relief to the Izmir Bar Association once again.
May the same be for the Istanbul Bar Association.
