I bet Turkish referees are being held hostage

Like other great nations, the Turks are a combative people.

It would be fair to say there is no field where they do not exist. Even if they experience periodic problems, they have been present at every point in average world history.

Even if they are not behind the great inventions, they are either at the center or on the periphery of the great wars.

While this centralist position of the Turks is linked to their geographical location, it is directly related to their success in settling in this geography.

Furthermore, their relations with their neighbors and their efforts in industry, production, education, logistics, agriculture, energy, and science are a visible success story.

There is one single subject, however, and that is football, which somehow cannot convert its potential into the right kind of energy.

There are various reasons for this, which the sports press already discusses in programs lasting for hours.

In particular, the fact that not a single Turkish referee blew the whistle at the World Cup, and worse, that this is not even considered a problem, reveals the root cause of these reasons.

Mind you, there wasn't anyone who didn't hear the rumor that we had a famous referee blowing the whistle in Europe, but he was being manipulated by some ninety-year-old card-playing lecher who looked like a fox.

This reason became even clearer in Trabzonspor's last match.

In a clear penalty position involving a world star like Mohamed Salah, the referee, with a very wrong decision made deliberately, did not award a penalty and, relying on whoever he relies on, gave Salah a yellow card for simulation.

Even VAR did not prevent this error.

This means the problem is not in the ability of the referees or the technology, but somewhere else.

Turkish referees are making a serious mistake somewhere, as it is impossible to explain with reason why they would risk making errors that would end their careers in front of millions of eyes.

No sane person would take this risk for no reason or jeopardize their professional career.

This means there is a black hole that we do not know about or that we know about but do not speak of.

I bet there is.
