Deputy elections have always been problematic in our country.
While those who deserve it cannot become deputies, names with limited ability but unlimited kinship ties can.
There are many examples.
However, Edirne holds a special place in this regard.
Someone who is not from Edirne was elected deputy just because they were someone's grandchild, an event that is hardly possible in Turkey.
An Edirne deputy's name usually carries the codes of Balkan folklore, such as Arda, Tuna, or Meriç.
Someone who is not from Trabzon, and who has not even waited in line for minced meat pies at Rüştü's bakery, can never be a Trabzon deputy.
The situation is not much different in Eskişehir.
It is almost impossible for someone who does not have immigrant, Circassian, or Tatar roots in their background to become an Eskişehir deputy.
In a city like Edirne, which was settled by people who migrated from the other side of the water, if someone without immigrant roots is elected deputy, they will be dragged on the ground, beaten, and lose their head.
The CHP should put its hat in front of itself and rethink its deputy selection process so that it does not get beaten again.
And finally, let me note this: the one who gets beaten is the one at fault.
