Noah's Ark has been found again

The 1970s.

We were children.

The Cold War era was in full swing.

Activity at the NATO base in Boztepe, Trabzon, for the purpose of monitoring and eavesdropping on Soviet Russia was a common, everyday occurrence.

NATO bases similar to the one in Boztepe were established in other parts of the country as well.

There are still dozens of NATO bases that continue their operations today.

However, after the Soviet Russian threat disappeared following 1989, NATO bases shifted from northern regions like Sinop, Trabzon, and Ağrı to the south.

During times when the Soviet threat was intense, Americans would be present in the northern regions.

Even though their relations with the public were quite warm, the Americans would become uneasy whenever political tensions rose.

Socialist youth would approach the fences of the NATO bases and chant slogans like "Yankee go home."

The Ağrı region and Mount Ararat were perfect for monitoring Soviet Russia.

With its height and distance advantage, it was the most strategic point in the region.

Therefore, it was necessary to somehow lull Turkish leftists to sleep, especially regarding the Ağrı region, and prevent protests.

To lull them to sleep, they created a myth that the remains of Noah's Ark were on Mount Ararat, so that American soldiers could infiltrate the region disguised as archaeologists searching for the ship without anyone noticing.

They blinded the Turks by adding extra descriptions, such as the command in the holy book: "Then it was said, 'Earth, swallow your water! Sky, hold back!' The water receded, the matter was finished, and the ship settled on Mount Judi," and the description in the Book of Genesis (Chapter 8, Verse 4) stating that the ship settled on the mountains of Ararat on the seventeenth day of the seventh month, equating the name Ararat to the geography of ancient Urartu and the present-day Mount Ararat region.

They blinded them so effectively that the anti-NATO protests seen in Trabzon were not seen in the Ağrı region.

To those Turks who questioned, "It says Judi, not Ararat in this verse," they would brush them off by saying:

Whether it's Judi or Ararat, what difference does it make?

Did Ararat even exist back then?

Mount Ararat is a continuation of the Judi mountain range.

Even the best of us make mistakes.

Are you looking for a hazelnut-topped dessert when you've already found the pumpkin dessert?

To solidify the circle of persuasion, they released photoshopped satellite images of the ship in geography and tabloid magazines.

They turned the remains of a mythological fairy-tale ship into reality by giving it flesh and bone with a flashy story.

For some reason, after the Cold War ended, neither Mount Ararat, nor satellite photos, nor Noah's Ark, nor the wooden fragments left over from the ship became a topic of discussion.

That was until some local academics recently appeared with new photoshopped satellite images.

Alongside local scientists, foreigners have also started to take an interest in Noah's Ark again.

They shared the first images from the region where studies are being conducted to find Noah's Ark on Mount Ararat.

A foreign TV presenter published footage taken next to a large drilling machine set up in the area.

Let us not be surprised if new interpretations fabricated from holy books start to arrive soon.

And when we hear them, we can be sure that the Cold War has begun again.
