The American dream: Work and Travel

I don't know if it existed in our time.

However, it has become quite popular in recent years.

The Work and Travel program.

It is a perfect fit, especially for young people who couldn't get into a prestigious university.

It is a program for students who don't give up just because they fell behind.

Students who rejoice because they got ahead will see how tough the competition will be when they compete with the kids who participated in the Work and Travel program.

Through this program, university students from all over the world spend their summer months in America.

They both work and get to know the culture, become familiar with the Anglo-Saxon way of thinking, and get the opportunity to travel around the land of dreams—though, in my opinion, the America of the 90s no longer exists.

There is an America that has officially turned into a dump.

There are those who compare the program to selecting laborers at a day-laborer market.

However, this program is entirely under the control of the American state.

Work visas are issued under the coordination of the Department of State, the Department of Homeland Security, and the Department of Labor.

Companies that employ students provide collateral to the ministry, meaning they are obligated to pay at least 40 hours of weekly wages no matter what happens.

There is absolutely no luxury of saying, 'no customers came' or 'the weather was bad so there was no work, let's not pay the salary.'

A weekly salary for 40 hours must be paid without excuses.

Social rights such as health insurance and tax refunds are an added bonus.

As you can see, the program offers countless opportunities.

Just as there are those who return with money in their pockets, there are also those who spend their father's money.

And it's not as if there aren't those like my son, who happily and rightfully spend both America's money and mine—may it be well-deserved.

Although the visa process appearing extremely arduous might seem like a handicap, it is not.

On the contrary, it is an important threshold in preparing young people for life.

A young person who manages to obtain an American visa will unlock every door in my professional life.
