The Ancient Hellenic trick of the Olympics

Don't leave your news choices to an algorithm - decide for yourself what you read. Add 12punto to your preferred sources!

While the topic is still fresh and accusations are coming one after another, before diving into the Hellenistic period, I will write an Olympic piece so that the matter can be put to rest.

I won't inflate the event or make the subject mysterious like the master writer Sunay Akın.

But I will leave a note for history, let it be done, and close the subject.

The massive Olympics are over.

They are waiting for San Francisco, which will be held in America 4 years from now.

As for us, when we think of the Olympics, Naim Süleymanoğlu and Halil Mutlu still come to mind.

What remains in memory?

The references to the French Revolution at the opening.

The motorcycle stunts by Tom Cruise and the concerts at the closing.

Yusuf Dikeç.

The volleyball girls.

Mete Gazoz.

The 'horseshoes' (failures) collected by the Turkish National Team.

The blame was placed on the federations.

No progress in sports has been recorded.

When combat sports like karate and boxing were removed from the Olympics, our medal count dropped, and we fell to 64th place, behind Pakistan.

The free fall will continue.

It is not that there aren't a few bright kids in swimming and athletics.

As for the reason.

You see it often in the news. We have quite successful athletes in the U16-U18 categories.

What happens that these children suddenly vanish into thin air once they reach the age of 20?

Is there a plague hitting them?

The answer is simple.

There is no plague.

European sports coaches do not push their child athletes too hard so that their muscles do not get damaged.

They do not prioritize successes at a young age.

They leave the strain on their fresher and more sensitive biological structures for later ages.

By which time, our children's muscle structure has already become damaged.

Due to the anatomical structure of opinion columns, if I must offer some advice, I will.

Let us minimize our sports efforts, concentrate and focus only on a few branches.

Let us not burden our children before they mature and damage the crystalline structure of their young and fresh muscles.

Let us not stray from science so that we do not end up among the societies that have vanished.
