However, since the number of academics who are proficient in English is low, it is not possible to open the desired number of English-medium departments.

The fact that talented young people are not turning to academia for well-known reasons, and are instead emigrating abroad, is leaving Turkish academia barren.

Consequently, it is becoming increasingly difficult for Turkey to remain a center of attraction for international students.

We are approaching a point of stagnation.

It will become even more difficult.

Because Turkish universities, which have turned into power-point academies, are struggling to satisfy international students who use English very well.

Another threat is that German universities have also switched to English-medium education.

Especially their master's programs are almost entirely in English.

The University of Mainz, which will visit me next week, has also started offering undergraduate education in English.

Even Vilnius University in Lithuania, which will visit the following week, is opening English-medium departments.

The opportunity for free movement and work in Europe that they offer to students will tempt international students who would otherwise choose Turkey.

Then Italy stepped in and opened English-medium departments as well.

When an annual non-repayable scholarship of 8 thousand euros is offered as a bonus on top of that, Italian universities have begun to flourish.

Smart Turkish youth have also started to choose Italy quite frequently.

Therefore, in international higher education where competition has increased dramatically, those who experience problems with structural reform integration in order to stay at the peaks of the sine curve will not be able to complete the marathon.
