The 36th NATO Summit was held in Ankara on July 7-8. Trump, who attended this meeting solely for Erdoğan's sake, described our Turkish Armed Forces—which they once devastated with plots—as "magnificent" both upon his arrival and departure, while emphasizing that they would discuss Iran, whose "army he had largely destroyed," with Erdoğan, and praised Turkey's "loyalty."
Erdoğan, stating that they are striving to offer our capabilities to NATO's service at the required stage as the country with the largest land army in Europe, said regarding Iran: "I appreciate the determined stance supported by my friend Mr. Trump, despite sabotage attempts, in bringing the crisis to a path of resolution," and added that "they would provide the necessary contribution for clearing the Strait of Hormuz of mines."
Following these, while Iran, along with Russia, was targeted in the NATO Summit Final Declaration, Trump had the ceasefire ended and Iran struck while he was still in Ankara.
As a coincidence; exactly 1 month after the NATO Summit, on August 7, Erdoğan, Pakistani Prime Minister Sharif, and Saudi Prince bin Salman—who eliminated journalist Jamal Khashoggi with acid in the middle of Istanbul—signed the Mecca Joint Defense Agreement in Mecca.
The first to welcome the agreement with a "Wow" exclamation was Trump. While congratulating the "great leaders" of the three countries, Trump commented, "This is a great, bold, and important first step."
When almost everyone with eyes to see and ears to hear put the NATO Summit and the Mecca Agreement side by side and understood the direction, it was initially explained that this alliance was established not against Iran, but against Israel and Greece and that it would protect us, but it was not remembered that neither Saudi Arabia nor Pakistan recognizes the TRNC!..
Those Who Find the Iran War "Nonsense"
Even though people like Ahmet Hakan, who "does what is necessary" from his column, said, "Saying that these three countries will form an alliance in Mecca and declare war on Iran is nothing more than a foreign policy analysis based on the 'forget about it' method," there were also some names from the pro-government media among those who were worried.
For example, Süleyman Seyfi Öğün from Yeni Şafak stated, "Events are gradually dragging us toward the possibility of a Turkish-Hebrew 'friction'," and observed, "As far as I can understand, Ankara has begun to follow a policy that is quite attached to the US, which became very obvious especially at the last NATO Summit."
Indeed, Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan not only said that "the 'Mecca Agreement' is a complement to NATO," but also technically compared it to Article 5 of the NATO Treaty regarding collective defense. Fidan did not neglect to announce that the secretariat's headquarters would be established in Saudi Arabia and that joint exercises would be held, even though the content of the agreement had not been disclosed and had not been sent to the Turkish Grand National Assembly (TBMM).
Who Targets the Kaaba?
Recently, Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico pointed out that when the strategy of defeating Russia in the war in Ukraine failed, some warmongers within NATO were doing everything to turn this war into a conflict between Russia and NATO at any cost, and warned, "We are facing a deadly danger."
Since the claim that the Houthis in Yemen attacked Mecca surfaced in the first month of the Mecca Agreement, a similar danger has practically been in question.
Although the Saudi Prince called twice and asked him to strike the Houthis, Trump, who describes "Saudi Arabia as an outpost of Israel and America" and is trying to corner Arabia to join the Abraham Accords, refused this.
Republican Senatör Joe Wilson also pointed to the Mecca Agreement and called, "It says an attack on one is an attack on all. Now it is time for Turkey, Pakistan, and Saudi Arabia to destroy the Houthis."
As for Ankara's attitude? Although the Houthis denied the attack in clear terms, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs immediately "strongly condemned the Mecca attack" and emphasized "once again that it is in solidarity with Saudi Arabia."
Minister Hakan Fidan, again, even though the agreement was not sent to the TBMM, stated this time that negotiations not reflected to the public were being conducted among the alliance members and said, "Military needs can be in certain technical areas in particular. We would not have any trouble meeting this."
Erdoğan, on the other hand, while saying, "We are not a state established yesterday. We are a state experienced enough not to fall for provocations or traps," noted that "further military support could come to the agenda depending on the scale of the threat."
Ultimately, in recent days, Pakistan, one of the alliance partners, took the first step and provided military support including air defense systems, light artillery elements, and UAVs to the Yemeni government fighting the Houthis with the support of Saudi Arabia.
The message that the Kaaba is being targeted is being given with the claim of an attack on Mecca; let us remind you that the US has been targeting this place from the past to the present and give a single example.
When Republican MP Tom Tancredo said in 2005, "If radical Islamist terrorists were to attack the country with nuclear weapons, the US could target Islam's holy sites in retaliation," he was asked, "Are you talking about bombing Mecca?" He replied, "Yes"!..
Despite these developments, while the pro-government media continues its praise for the Mecca Agreement, let us convey what two names wrote.
While Salih Tuna from Sabah reacted to the words of US Senatör Joe Wilson by saying, "Look at this Zionist mind: They will set the aforementioned alliance, which should be a shield against the Promised Land occupation plan, upon Ansarullah and Iran in line with their own goals... In other words, let the Turkish soldier shed blood together with Pakistani soldiers, and let Netanyahu smoke his cigar in the Golan! God forbid...", Süleyman Seyfi Öğün from Yeni Şafak made the observation, "This agreement was not shaped solely by the initiative of the three states in question. Of course, there is also the approval of the US behind it," and emphasized the following:
"There are many signs to suspect that Israel has a hand in the Yemen attack, like adding water to a cooked meal by the Saudis. If Turkey and Pakistan enter or are forced to enter this adventure with their bodies, it is obvious from the start that the party that will gain a great benefit from this business will be Israel; and the biggest losers will be Turkey and Pakistan... God forbid, if this scenario comes to life, the Iran-Turkey and Iran-Pakistan tensions could fuel a Sunni-Shia blood feud in the Middle East with no end in sight, exactly as Israel wants."
The Parliament Still Has No Name
Exactly two months have passed since the Mecca Agreement. We still do not know the content of the agreement... It has not been sent to the Parliament either.
While this is the situation, the Strategic Political and Defense Committee meeting, attended by Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, Minister of Defense Yaşar Güler, and Chief of General Staff General Selçuk Bayraktaroğlu, was held in Riyadh the other day.
In the joint statement made after the meeting, it was reported that "the attempt to target Mecca and Medina and the ongoing attacks on cities and civilian and economic facilities in Saudi Arabia were condemned in the strongest terms" and the following decisions were taken:
"The Committee has decided to immediately proceed with the implementation of collective defense commitments, and within this framework, provided that it is in accordance with the national legislation of the Parties, to take measures for the provision of agreed military forces and capabilities to Saudi Arabia within the framework of agreed arrangements and their rapid deployment, thereby strengthening the readiness, military integration, and collective capacity to combat threats."
Do you know who was the first to be happy again? US Senatör Joe Wilson. After emphasizing that the "Mecca Defense Alliance has the potential to be the NATO of the Middle East," Wilson said, "I am grateful to our allies Turkey, Pakistan, and Saudi Arabia for mobilizing the alliance in the face of Houthi-backed aggression."
Aside from Wilson's joy; let's put the decisions in Riyadh on the table.
The "compliance with national legislation" of the parties is mentioned, but there is nothing coming to the Parliament...
Along with it, the decision to "take measures for the provision of military forces to Saudi Arabia and their rapid deployment" is made...
This means that either the agreement in question will never be brought to the Parliament, or—being sure that it will be approved in any case—they will first "set off" and then bring it.
Come and not remember the March 1st Memorandum, which foresaw the occupation of Iraq but was not accepted as a result of great resistance including by AKP members, and especially the attitude of Devlet Bahçeli, the leader of the MHP, who was outside the Parliament at that time!..
Before the memorandum was discussed, Bahçeli asked questions such as, "When and why did the AKP administration and government abandon the 'international legitimacy' criterion it previously sought for support for military intervention in Iraq?.. Is the main reason for the prolongation of the bargaining and negotiation process that some issues are wanted to be hidden from the nation and the Parliament while the government memorandum is passing through the Parliament?"...
On the day the memorandum was discussed, he noted the following:
"It is a great misfortune that the agreements allegedly reached with the US on military, political, and economic issues are not known by our nation. The Parliament should not close its doors to the nation on such an important and vital issue, and must be absolutely sure that solid guarantees have been reached on strategic issues... The TBMM should also protect its honor and national cause in a way worthy of its history and position."
After the memorandum was not accepted, he emphasized that the AKP government and administration bringing this issue to the Parliament without resolving it within itself "shows that it does not take the Parliament seriously enough."
What is Bahçeli saying now? This:
"It is inevitable to create a deterrent Islamic Peace Force by expanding the framework of the Jerusalem Alliance we proposed for the prevention of Israeli aggression, expansionism, and lawlessness and for the safety of the region, or the Mecca Agreement signed between Turkey, Pakistan, and Saudi Arabia."
Yes, we are dizzy from the internal fund corruption, operations, and transfers; but also pay attention to this Mecca Agreement that could turn all this agenda upside down at once!..
