Is the PKK/YPG/PYD in the NATO document? Give us news on that!

For four days, the marks left by Erdoğan and Turkey on the NATO Summit in Washington have been the subject of discussion, and it seems they will continue to be discussed.

Before his departure for Washington, the main messages Erdoğan conveyed were as follows:

- Regarding the membership of Sweden and Finland, which we accepted on the conditions that "NATO recognize the PKK/YPG/PYD as a terrorist organization, the extradition of terrorists in NATO countries, and the lifting of arms embargoes applied to our country," he pointed not to Madrid, but only to Vilnius, stating that "the implementation of the decisions taken in Vilnius regarding the fight against terrorism and the removal of obstacles to defense industry trade among allies" is important.

- He stated that he would underline the need for NATO to increase its efforts in conducting a determined and holistic fight against terrorist organizations.

- Reiterating Turkey's commitment to Ukraine's territorial integrity, sovereignty, and independence, he explained that we have been putting our hands under the stone from the beginning to pave the way for peace, and said, "While designing the steps to be taken to support Ukraine, we also maintain our principled stance that NATO should not be made a party to the war."

- While emphasizing that they would bring the ongoing massacres against the Palestinian people in Gaza to the agenda, he noted that "we have not yet received what we wanted, especially from NATO, regarding the Israel-Palestine issue."

All Eyes Were Supposed to be on Turkey

The pro-government media propagated that "all eyes will be on Turkey at the summit... The world media is locked on President Erdoğan's messages... The Turkish leader is at the table for Gaza," claiming that "Erdoğan's statements at the session and the bilateral meetings he will hold are being followed closely."

Let us start with the protocol part of the summit, which we also followed closely.

Upon his arrival at the center where the meeting was held, Erdoğan was welcomed by US President Biden and NATO Secretary General Stoltenberg. At the beginning of the event, he posed for a group photo with the summit participants. He met with the Prime Ministers of Hungary, Greece, Italy, and Germany. At the end of the summit, he and his wife attended the official dinner hosted by Biden in honor of the heads of state and government and their spouses.

Israel, Which Is Not a NATO Member, Was Also at the Summit

As for the content of the summit; a video was shown in the program featuring footage related to different events such as the Second World War, the establishment of NATO, the Bosnian War, the annexation of Crimea, and the Russia-Ukraine War. The opening speeches were made by Biden and Stoltenberg.

Both Erdoğan and the media had emphasized that "Gaza would be brought to the agenda"; however, if he spoke at the summit, what Erdoğan said has not yet been reported.

Yet, look at the Spanish media; Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez has already announced at the closed-door meeting that "NATO should show the same unity and consistency in Gaza as it does in Ukraine."

While Erdoğan gives messages of loyalty to NATO and voices our expectations from this apparatus, what should we say about the following assessments of a writer from the pro-government media itself?

"We saw once again from the US President's statements that NATO is the most effective ideological and military subcontractor of Western colonialism, which serves Zionism in every aspect rather than defending its member countries. Therefore, NATO-ism and Americanism mean Zionism. Because Zionists are continuing the genocidal European and American settler colonialism of the past centuries against Native Americans and Black Africans today against the Palestinians."

Let us note more; it turns out that the Foreign Minister of Israel, which is not a NATO member, also attended the summit and official dinners!..

It seems that for Turkey, the result regarding Gaza at the summit is zero.

Arms and Money Pile-up for Ukraine

While Erdoğan wants "NATO not to be made a party to the war," let us look at the issue of Ukraine, which is one of the main agenda items of the summit.

Meeting with US Secretary of Defense Austin, the boss of NATO, before the summit, Secretary General Stoltenberg thanked Austin for his "strong leadership on Ukraine" and emphasized that "this has enabled us all to provide unprecedented support to Ukraine," and that "allies will take decisions at the summit to further strengthen NATO's support for Ukraine."

And so it happened. Announcing a new support package for Ukraine in his opening speech at the summit, Biden said that the US, Germany, the Netherlands, Romania, and Italy would provide Ukraine with dozens of five different strategic air defense system equipment. Following this, it was reported that Denmark, the Netherlands, and Norway would provide F-16s to Ukraine. Although for now and on the surface, it is said that these are "decisions of individual countries," where do we place the decision to establish the "NATO-Ukraine Joint Analysis, Training and Education Center" in Germany?

Since even the pro-government media called these decisions "the F-16 move that will fuel the war" and "a decision like a declaration of war from NATO," it is clear how much Erdoğan's request was taken into account!..

What About "Terroristan" and Terrorist Organizations?

Let us come to the separatist terror threat under the protection of many NATO countries, especially the US, which directly concerns the security of our country.

Last year, Erdoğan said, "The activities that America carries out in this country with the Syrian extensions of the PKK constitute an extraordinary threat to Turkey's national security. We have a security problem between us."

This was actually an admission that the decisions said to have been accepted in return for Sweden and Finland's membership at NATO's Madrid and Vilnius summits were not implemented.

As a matter of fact, those who established a "terroristan," especially in Syria, reached the stage of holding elections last May. The election was first postponed to June 11, and then to August 18. While the pro-government media attributed these postponements to "Turkey's power," the patron of the terrorist organization and even the boss of NATO, the US, openly commanded, "We called for not holding the elections. We conveyed this to a number of actors in northeast Syria, including the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (DAANES)."

In response to Erdoğan's statement, "There is no election or anything... There is a game staged to legitimize the terrorist organization and establish a terroristan in the region," these expressions were nothing but an admission that "the terrorist organization is being legitimized and a terroristan is being established"...

It was also as clear as day that the US had the election postponed to guarantee Rutte's NATO Secretary Generalship before the Washington summit, and at the same time to delay the possible operation into Syria that Erdoğan had announced for the summer months...

Returning to the NATO Summit;

Beforehand, AKP Spokesperson Ömer Çelik stated, "If other NATO countries transfer weapons to the terrorist organization, this is a practice that is not compatible with NATO principles. Turkey will continue its reminders on this point," and emphasized that "a terroristan will not be allowed in Syria."

Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan explained the following:

"Our priorities at the NATO summit in Washington are a continuation of our policies shaped in Madrid the previous year and the year before that. Sensitivities that will understand and encompass Turkey's concerns regarding the fight against terrorism must be shown... There are 2.5 active members with whom we have problems regarding the YPG; the US, the UK, and a little bit of France... We are conducting the highest possible diplomacy regarding the fact that this is contrary to the spirit of the alliance and that Turkey will not live with such a reality... I think we have reached a certain level of understanding... We want a certain point to be reached on this issue with patience and wisdom, and for the PKK to withdraw from among us."

Result?

In the summit final declaration; the fight against terrorism was recorded as the second major threat facing NATO... It was also reported that the "document on NATO's contributions to the fight against terrorism and the strategy it will follow" has been updated.

Do we mean the same thing as the US-NATO when we say fighting terrorism?!

And furthermore, is the PKK/YPG/PYD, or even "FETÖ," in NATO's strategy document; give us news on that, primarily!..
