Erdoğan, who attended the Military Academy Graduation Ceremony the other day, boasted of the following:
“We overcame the greatest disaster that could happen to a state, such as the July 15 betrayal, with the least possible damage. We quickly compensated for the destruction caused by the FETÖ traitors within our army.”
You would think that it was someone else who joined hands with the US-NATO-EU and brought the "FETÖ" plague upon the Turkish Armed Forces (TSK) and Turkey under the pretext of ending "military tutelage."
Erdoğan's boasting did not stop there.
He stated that with the reforms they implemented, they put an end to the troublesome situations that were a burden, a hindrance, and a subject of unnecessary debate for the TSK...
He emphasized that “with our new education and training system, we have a Turkish Armed Forces that is committed to the principle of the supremacy of the national will, serves only the nation, and takes orders only from its state and its legitimate administrators.”
Claiming that the indigestion of the remnants of the old Turkey has increased as the TSK's success graph has risen, he said, “We will continue to disturb the FETÖ traitors and those who aspire to tutelage with our successes.”
Let us answer briefly.
Were these the things that were a “burden” and a “hindrance” to the TSK, such that “reforms” like the disruption of the chain of command; the exclusion of commanders from promotions, appointments, and retirements; and the closure of military high schools and military hospitals were implemented?
Is transforming the TSK into an institution that “serves only the nation” about not asking for its opinion or not valuing its opinion on very fundamental foreign policy issues regarding Turkey's security, and even about commanders posing for photos with those who advocate for federation/autonomy and those who want the first four articles of the Constitution to be abolished?
No Turk who upholds the Constitution, Atatürk's Principles and Revolutions, and struggles for full independence in every sense would be disturbed by the rise of the TSK's success graph. If the address of the references to “remnants of the old Turkey” and “those who aspire to tutelage” is those who criticize the disruption of the TSK's fundamental systematics by first opening the way for “FETÖ” and then for other cults; then, with all due respect, those warnings are mandatory to avoid falling into the same pit.
“You Don't Know Fiqh, That's Why You Are Ignorant”
We did not write these things just because of that speech by Erdoğan. We made this introduction because it coincided with an interesting claim.
The claim, which has also been put into an official petition, is as follows:
An officer recently appointed to the Ministry of National Defense (MSB) warns a specialist, likely a civilian with whom he shares the same room, for making “religious sermon” style remarks.
The specialist in question not only replies, “You don't know fiqh, that's why you are ignorant,” but also walks towards the officer. Other personnel intervene, and the specialist leaves the room.
Some time later, the officer is told that one of the civilian administrators of the MSB wants to see him. He goes. Let us read the rest from his petition:
“From the moment I entered the room, I was subjected to attempts at reprimanding with a mafioso-style sitting and speaking manner. I believe that I was subjected to mobbing in this regard, acting within the scope of the Menzil cult or another parallel structure. I request that the necessary disciplinary investigation be conducted regarding the subject and that the necessary administrative actions be taken against the named personnel.”
Erdoğan said one more thing in his speech at the Military Academy. He said;
“It is as difficult to preserve Anatolia as our eternal homeland as it is to make it a homeland. This place does not tolerate complacency, it does not tolerate weakness; it does not tolerate laziness, inertia, or indifference. This place never, ever tolerates a 'what do I care' attitude.”
True indeed... But it also does not tolerate this course of events, does it?!
